Sermons for Preaching

Title: The Word of the Bible is Power

content br />

p; Matthew 4:1-10

p; Today's sermon is about the three temptations Jesus received from Satan. The first was tested with food. The second was the temptation to jump from a high place and prove whether God was really protecting him or not. The third was the temptation to show me all the joys of the world and give me all these worldly things if I bowed down to myself.

p; 1. The temptation of rice cake

Satan tempted Jesus to make bread out of stones and eat it. The temptation to eat from a hungry Jesus who had not eaten anything for 40 days must have been the most difficult temptation.

p; Temptation always comes from two sides. One comes through my weakest part. Those who are weak in the pleasures of the world will be tempted by pleasures. Even those who are good at doubting in faith are tested by doubt. Those who are weak against substances will be tested with substances. A person with a bad personality will be tempted by character.

p; Another test comes through my strongest part. People who have a good personality and get along well will fall into temptation while dating other people because of that. Those who work hard in their prayer life will fall into temptation because of their prayers. Even those who work hard in the service life fall into pride because of it. In fact, the difficulties in the church come from this disease of pride. Because they think they are doing well, they fall into the illusion as if nothing is possible without them. But the church is the work of the Holy Spirit, not man. So eager people should be wary of this. Monkeys fall from trees, never fish.

p; Bread is money. The greatest temptation that saints encounter in the world, the most frequent temptation--it is the temptation of material things. They struggle for money, fight for money, and give up their faith because of money.

p; But the Lord said.

bsp; Man does not live by bread alone,

bsp; live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4

Money is a good thing. Nothing happens without money. But don't be a slave to money. Be a person who lives by the word of God. Be truly content with life and live happily. At that time, the material given to you will be truly blessed.

p; 2. The temptation of trials

The second temptation was that the devil took Jesus to the top of the high temple and asked him to jump down from there. Sometimes Satan takes us upstairs. Your faith is like this. Your location is like this. This is your career. Aren't you guys on top? Please be careful. Satan always has a habit of pushing him down after he lifts it up.

p; Any believer can overcome material temptation. For the Lord's sake, they willingly risk their own material losses and obey the Word. It also makes us happy with what we have. However, the reality is that such beliefs are easily shaken when you fall into the trials and pains of life.

bsp; ‘Why did this ordeal come only to me?

bsp; How can this happen if there is a God?’

The first step in Satan's temptation of man is to 'doubt'. By breaking our relationship with God, we cut off our faith and fellowship with God.

bsp; If you believe in Jesus, why is this happening?

bsp; I prayed so much, but why is it so difficult...

bsp; I worked so hard, but why is this situation like this...

At this time, Satan penetrates into the heart of a Christian. ‘Your faith is in vain. There is no God you believe in. If not, how did this happen to you?' This is the removal of the cross from our faith. It makes me forget the love of Christ who gave up his body for me and the grace of redemption, and put my faith only in my comfort, my safety, and my bodily blessings.

p; If you are the Son of God, jump down from this top. Satan's temptation, that angels will protect you, and that you will not be hurt, greatly simplifies faith and reduces it to ups and downs.

p; But a big tree is not afraid of rain and wind, and it keeps its steadfastness even in blizzards. Rather, it is through trials that we grow. Weeds that become green onion kimchi in the first frost can never become a pillar in the world. Therefore, in any case, we must stand firm in our faith. And we must defeat Satan. ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test!’

p; 3. The seduction of pleasure

The third temptation that the Lord received was that he would show us the glory and joy of all the kingdoms of the world and allow him to enjoy all these worldly pleasures if he worshiped Satan only once.

p; Another great temptation to tempt humans is the temptation of pleasure. It is a world where there is nothing in the world to find temporary pleasures and pleasures. Satan tempts humans with all kinds of fancy things. Satan seduces the saints with physical comfort and takes away true peace. By tempting them with temporary pleasures, they take away the joy of the soul. It is to tempt us with things we see and lose our invisible eternal reward.

p; Therefore, even in the face of any temptation, no matter how great it may seem, I bless you with this faith that you will be able to overcome ‘Get away, Satan!

p; By the way, do you know the words Jesus used every time in today's text to resist Satan's temptations? Did you notice the words that come out in common in each part? It is 'it is written'. ‘It is written, Man does not live by bread alone…’ ‘It is written, Thou shalt not put the Lord your God to the test.’ ‘It is written, Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him.’ These were the words of the Lord. At these words, Satan could not move and threw him out. was recorded? Where was it recorded? That's the bible. How is it?

p; Dear saints, do you have the Bible in you? Many members diligently attend church and attend worship services, but in reality, little of the Word is contained in their faith. It is like a tree with weak roots. Dear brothers and sisters, I hope that the Word will always come to mind in your life. Even if you can't memorize the Toshi in detail, I hope the Bible verses are in you. I hope that the Word will come to mind when you are having a hard time, the Word will come to you when you are happy, and you will have faith to meditate on it from time to time.

bsp; Blessed are the people....

bsp; He delights in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.

bsp; He said that a tree planted by streams of water yields its fruit in its season.

bsp; As his leaf never withers, everything he does will prosper. Psalm 1:1-3

I hope that you will have faith to keep the Word in your heart and meditate on it. How is it? The Word strengthens faith. Words deepen your faith. The Word turns faith into true faith. How is it?

p; Dear saints who are fighting temptation in a world like this wilderness, I hope that you will be victorious because the Lord has won. Because the Lord has overcome, so will you. The Word will be your strength, just as the Lord has defeated it with the Word. I bless you that you will always be victorious in the Lord through the Word.
