Title: The Work of the Risen Lord
Contents Luke 24 said that you are witnesses of all these things (Luke 24:48).
Dear saint! The resurrected Lord appeared to the disciples, convinced them of the resurrection based on the Bible and told them that they were Jesus' own witnesses.
First, Jesus appeared to the disciples (Luke 24:36-43).
When the two men on their way to Emmaus returned to Jerusalem and told them that Jesus had appeared to them, Jesus himself suddenly appeared to the disciples. At this time, the disciples were startled and frightened, apparently thinking of Jesus as a ghost. Jesus eats a piece of grilled fish to convince his doubting disciples that Jesus Himself is definitely the risen Lord. The disciples who saw this must have been convinced that Jesus really had risen in their hearts. Do you have the confidence of these disciples in your heart? Or are you still in doubt?
Second, the mission was given (Luke 24:44-49).
As Jesus continued to be with his disciples, he reminded them of what he taught them through the Old Testament and opened their hearts to understand. This would allow the disciples to have confidence on a deeper, unshakable foundation. Now the disciples have no choice but to be witnesses. A mission was given to all peoples. If you, too, have an open mind to this fact, you have a mission. How are you fulfilling this mission?
Dear saint! Jesus took his disciples to the front of Bethany, blessed them, and ascended to heaven. The account of this ascension is further described in the book of Acts (Acts 1:9-11), which can be called the Second Gospel of Luke. This ascension is a major turning point, indicating that Jesus' earthly ministry is now over. When Jesus ascended to heaven, the disciples worshiped, meaning that they now recognized Jesus as the one to be worshiped. It is the realization that Jesus is the 'Lord'. Are these changes in your life?
Convinced of the resurrection of Jesus, the disciples had a mission and worshiped Jesus as Lord. We should have this mission and worship as well.
Our Lord Jesus Christ! Help me to live the life of your witness.
