Bible: Joshua 1:1-9

Title: Worker's Faith

Introduction - Introduction to Joshua

-- This year, during the three nights of prayer, we share the grace of God while looking at Joshua in the Old Testament.

-- Tonight is the second hour

.Moses's death

The Joshua Bible records that Joshua became the leader of the people after Moses died--> Text 1:1 says, “After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, the LORD spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' servant, saying,” do.

-- Moses is dead.

-- Moses, who had been leading the people of Israel, could not cross the land of Canaan and died-->. Now the time of Moses has passed, and a new era has begun.

This new era

-- This is not the time of wandering in the wilderness.

-- It is the age of settlement in Canaan, the age of God's blessing.

-- It is the age of Joshua, the new worker.

Main body - sermon direction

. What kind of person is Joshua?

-- Today, before we look at Joshua 1, what Joshua did while Moses was alive?

We are trying to find a lesson by examining whether he was a person of faith and what kind of training he received.

1. He was a person who experienced the power of prayer

=======================================

-- The first occurrence of Joshua in the Bible is from the battle with Amalek in Exodus 17:8-16.

1) Battle with Amalek

-- Moses went to the mountain with Aaron and Hur and raised his hands to pray.

-- Joshua and the people went to battle with Amalek.

-- Moses raised his hands and prayed, and Joshua prevailed.

-- When Moses' hands were tired and fell, Amalek prevailed.

-- Aaron and Hur hold Moses' hand;

-- keep Moses' hands up in prayer, so that Joshua can win;

2) God's lesson about Joshua

-- After the battle, God said to Moses,

--> Exodus 17:14 "The LORD said to Moses, Write this in a book for a memorial, and recite it in the ears of Joshua."

-- Why did God not tell the people of Israel to memorize this, but to let Joshua hear it by memorizing it?

what is this

Pray to God--> Don't forget that all victories come by praying to God.

--> that there is never a victory for a human spear and sword

Example- David’s Millstone who defeated Goliath

Why did Joshua say that he would memorize it?

Because of humility

-- God prepared Joshua, who would become a worker in the new age, not to be arrogant.

--> Joshua could forget Moses' praying hands and think that he was victorious alone.

-- A proud person cannot be a good leader.

- God rejects the proud

--> (1 Peter 5:5) Let them all gird themselves with humility toward one another, for God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble...

Conclusion-- Lessons

The victory of spiritual warfare is praying to God

-- When we pray, God gives us the power to overcome

--> Mark 9:29 He said to them, "This kind cannot come out by any other means than prayer."

--> The only power to cast out devils is prayer

-- Joshua experienced this deeply

It is to honor God with humility.

Prayer--With prayer and humility, let us become victors of faith like Joshua.
