Title: The World and Satan's Temptation
Content Life of faith means spiritual battle. As soon as we believe in Jesus, we are changed from death to life, and from the devil's servants to the servants of Christ, so we cannot avoid the devil's challenge. Because Jesus Christ has already conquered the world, the devil cannot challenge us head-on and take us back to the old place, but we can use our weaknesses to tempt us, and in some cases mobilize the people of the world. can be persecuted. That is, after becoming a Christian, at least three new relationships arose: first, the struggle with Satan, second, separation from the world, including unbelievers, and third, delay with believers. Satan does not cease to tempt those who believe in Christ. Sometimes temptation comes because of the believer's own old man (the fleshly part) (James 1:14), and even the believer himself can be a test subject to others (Matt. 16:22, 23), but in all these cases Satan is hiding behind him.
1. What kind of place is 'the world'?
(1) The world created by God (Hebrews 11:3) - Heaven and earth, that is, the universe.
(2) People living in this world, people in sin (John 3:16)
- The land and the sea are not objects of love, but the people who live in them
(3) A "fallen" world under the control of the evil one, the devil (1 John 5:19)
- Rebellion against and opposing God the Creator means to obey one's own reason and value system.
( 1 John 2:16 , James 4: 4 )
◆◆ How do we know that we 'should love the world' and 'should not love the world'?
Should I reconcile it ?
2. What is the correct posture in the world?
(1) We must all be ( IN ) in the world. ( 1 John 17:11 )
- What is the difference between 'to be distinguished' and 'to escape'?
(2) Christians must not go out of the world. (1 Corinthians 5:10)
- This is a kind of 'isolation'. Why can't we go outside?
(3) But not of the world ( OF ). (John 17:16)
- God, who wants a 'separate' life, doesn't want us to be assimilated.
(4) You must live with the heart that you were sent into the world ( INTO ). (John 17:18)
- Just as the Lord was sent to the world to live, let us not avoid the world, but go into the world.
You have to dig into it and fulfill the role of light and salt.
♠♠ For the principle and application of 'a separate life', next week's 'Pursuit of Holiness ② - Virtue and Freedom'
will be dealt with in
3. Who is the adversary, the devil?
Satan is also called the devil. The devil is not a hypothetical being who personified the evil nature of human beings.
It's actually a living person. That is why the devil spoke to Job when he sued him.
( Job 1:6 - 12 )
♥♥ Their identity (2 Peter 2:4) and their ultimate destiny? (See Jude 1:6, John 12:31)
(1) Believers are constantly tempted (tested). (Matt 4:3, Prov 6:19 Rev 10:10,11 condemned)
(2) Unbelievers are not allowed to believe. (2 Corinthians 4:4)
(3) Christian spiritual warfare is a declaration of war against Satan (Ephesians 6:12)
*** Principality, authority refers to the ranks of fallen angels
*** It can be seen that the devil was the head of the fallen angels, and he was cast out of heaven and now
It has become a king (John 14: 3). (Revelation 12:7 - 10)
** Satan disguises the work of God and causes them to depart from the Word of God. miraculous healing
Magical beliefs through signs, signs, and spiritual visions ( 2 Corinthians 11:14 -15 ).
Satan knows the Bible well, but he does not obey it. Also, believe in and follow your own strength.
I buy it.
(Use of shaman, magician, psychic science, astrology, spiritualism, divination, clairvoyance, palmistry, etc.)
(4) However, Satan has already revealed his weaknesses, and failure is guaranteed.
( Revelation 20:10, Dan 4:34 -36, 6:26 - 27 , Isa 59:19 )
- The purpose of the Lord's coming to this earth was to destroy Satan and the devil. ( 1 John 3:8 ) ,
He also gave us the power to control. ( Matthew 10:1 , 16:19 , Mark 6:7 )
4. How to overcome Satan's temptation in the world?
(1) Know who God is (1 Corinthians 10:13)
- The deeper you get to know Him, the more your fear disappears and you are already at the forefront of victory.
Bible study is the shortcut . . . . . . .
(2) Meditate and recite the Word. ( Matthew 4:4 , 7 , 10 )
- Living in His Presence. Do you know the parable of the vine?
(3) Watch and pray (Matt 26:41)
- Prayer does not allow Satan's access. ( 1 Peter 5: 8,9 )
(4) With faith through the blood of Jesus (Colossians 2:15), face each other moment by moment. (James 4:7)
- It is not because of ourselves that the devil fights, but because of the greatness of the blood of Christ Jesus.
because of. The secret to not relying on me has already been explained above.
Satan tempts Christians in many ways, including unbelief (Job 2:9), pride (Matthew 4:6), power (Acts 8:19), sex (2 Samuel 11:2-4), money (John 13:21), etc. do. If we yield to temptation, we will sin, but if we overcome temptation, God will be glorified and believers will become strong. Next week, we will study the concrete application of victory in this world (the problem of virtue and freedom).
