2 Samuel 23:13-17 Thinking of each other
This is the story of a woman. He was a man with no regrets. He was a woman with everything. However, he also had a complex that no one knew about. Oddly enough, he had no eyebrows. So, I always drew my eyebrows with heavy makeup. But those green eyebrows made me feel uncomfortable all the time.
Then he found a man he loved. The two fell in love and got married. Although the woman lived happily with her beloved husband, an uneasy thought never left the corner of her heart. “What if my husband finds out that these eyebrows are painted eyebrows?
Such worries were always lingering at the bottom of his heart. One year, two years, three years passed safely. However, about three years after they got married, an unexpected misfortune struck the family. Her husband's business went bankrupt. I've become completely ignorant.
So, the two had no choice but to start over with their bare hands. The couple was the first to start delivering briquettes. The rear car was loaded with briquettes, and the husband pulled it from the front and the wife pushed it from the back. Then one day. The briquettes were delivered that day as well, and the wind blew fiercely along that day.
So the black ashes from the briquettes kept flying backwards, and my wife's face was completely covered with briquettes black. Occasionally, ashes got into my eyes, making my eyes sore and sore. Tears flowed down my cheeks. Nevertheless, the wife could not wipe away the tears at will. Why? After wiping away my tears, my eyebrows with makeup stopped
Because even if it is erased, all the secrets that have been hidden without her husband's knowledge will inevitably be revealed. So I couldn't do this, I couldn't numb, and I was groaning alone in pain.
That was then. The husband stopped the liar car for a moment and came to his wife. Then he took off the towel from his neck and started wiping her face with it. His wife's heart sank. "Now everything has been revealed!"
Whether or not he knew the heart of his anxious wife, the husband continued to wipe his wife's face clean with his towel. I wiped away all my tears. But the husband didn't even touch his wife's eyebrows in the slightest bit. My husband already knew everything. However, the husband had been deliberately pretending not to know about his wife.
After wiping his wife's face, the husband smiled and said: "Honey, your face is now as pretty as it used to be!" Then, my husband calmly went to the front of the car and started to pull the car again. How grateful would the wife be for the heart of the husband who loved him so much? It would have been heartbreaking.
Ladies and gentlemen, how beautiful and precious is a heart that thinks of others and a heart that cares for others? May God grant us this kind of heart today. If they think about each other, the family can only be happy. Such a church is inevitably gracious. And the reason why the Canadian society we live in still feels so cozy is because we have a heart for each other, isn't it?
Even in the text we read today, we can find a beautiful heart that cares for each other. David succeeded Saul as king of Israel. He had a lot to do. However, the most urgent task among them was to restore the territory lost to the Philistines during the reign of King Saul. So David went to war with the Philistines while leading the Israelite army. Now the Philistines were occupying Bethlehem, the homeland of David. David was leading an army and fighting the Philistines to restore Bethlehem.
David must have been very thirsty because he was conducting at the camp. It is said that the time is when the grain is cut. It was at a time when the heat was very rampant. So how thirsty are you? At that moment, something popped into David's mind. It was my hometown, the water of the well by the gate of Bethlehem.
When David was young, while tending the sheep, he must have drawn the water himself, drank it himself, and distributed it to the flocks he was tending. David was thinking of the cool water at that time. But his hometown, Bethlehem, was now in the hands of the Philistines. His native land was being trampled by strangers. David was upset and sighed, saying: This is verse 15. “Who will make me drink from the well by the gates of Bethlehem?”
Hearing this, three of David's men went out. They bravely broke through the enemy lines. And then, they fetched water. Their bodies must have been covered in blood as they quarreled and fought with their enemies. Looking at the scene, David could not bear to drink the water from the well by the gate of Bethlehem, which his men had given him. Because it was their blood rather than water. So he did not drink it himself, but poured it out to God. And remembering that his loved ones' lives were at risk because of him, David vowed never to do such a thing again.
Seeing this, the morale of the Israelites will inevitably increase. In this way, the servants' heart for the king, and
Because the king had a heart for his servants, they achieved great victories wherever they went. So Israel could become a stronger nation. In other words, a warm heart for each other and an attentive heart that cares for the suffering of others have made the country's development and happiness created.
However, folks, the characteristic of today's called the last days is extreme selfishness, which causes each other to suffer and stress. Sighs of unhappiness are exploding here and there because of Lee Ki-joo's husband and wife who only think of themselves, Lee Ki-joo's mother-in-law and daughter-in-law who only think of themselves, and the selfish leaders and people who only think about themselves. And the phenomenon of collective egoism, which only thinks about my country, only my church, only my family, and only my group, will ultimately drive mankind to great misery and ruin.
But if we have a beautiful heart to think of each other, wouldn't that be heaven? If a husband and wife think about each other, mother-in-law and daughter-in-law think about each other, leaders and people think about each other, and you and I think about each other, won't the shadows of misery disappear and the sunshine of happiness shine warmly? Wouldn't our faces be brighter and brighter?
It was during the Tokyo Olympics. A house built only three years ago was being demolished to expand the stadium. The workers were trying to remove the roof, but a lizard, still alive, wriggling with a nail in its tail. That motionless lizard
To find out why he was alive and not dead for three years, the workers stopped the demolition and watched the lizards.
Then, several times a day, a friend lizard would ask for food. How did the nailed lizard struggle? How great was the pain that stabbed you in the flesh every time you struggled? The friend lizard watching the scene from the side, how much more heartfelt
did it hurt?
Watching the suffering of a dear friend, another friend lizard went somewhere and asked for something to eat. The nailed lizard may at first have been thrown away in pain and despair, refusing to be brought by a friend. But seeing a friend risking food for himself several times a day and putting it in his mouth may have given the injured lizard a will to live.
After three years of suffering together under a dark roof, the lizard recovered from his injuries and the two were finally set free. And the two lizards were able to roam the field to their heart's content, enjoying joy and happiness. Ladies and gentlemen, if even a single animal is living a short life together, thinking about the suffering of a friend, but if the person who is the lord of all things and the children of God do not take care of each other, then if the family, society, and church in which we live are becoming unhappy. How sad would you be?
There is a story we know well. A man stopped by a clothing store on his way home from work. And I bought a pair of long pants. I was going to a meeting tomorrow wearing those pants. But when I got home and tried on the pants I bought with my family after dinner, it seemed like they were too long. So I took off my clothes and laid them on the sofa in the living room and told my wife: "Honey! I have to wear this dress early tomorrow morning, but it seems a bit long, so I want you to shorten the hem by 5 cm."
After that, my wife finished washing the dishes and tried to mend her clothes. But the baby keeps whining. So I thought that I would have to work after putting the baby to sleep, so I went into the room and put the baby to sleep next to him. My wife put the baby to sleep, but she also stopped falling asleep.
My husband's younger sister, my sister-in-law, looked at me and thought quietly. "Should my sister take care of the house and raise children, how difficult and exhausting would it be? I'd rather not wake her up." In the meantime, I took my brother's clothes, cut 5 cm, and made the hem. Then he carefully ironed the clothes and put them in place.
It was a deep night. My mother-in-law got up for a while to go to the bathroom. As I walked through the living room, the clothes were lying there. "Ttttttt, how hard must a young child go to sleep like that? Yeah, don't wake him up, let's just leave it alone. At the same time, my mother-in-law cut another 5cm.
It was dawn. The mother of the baby who fell asleep was startled and woke up at 5 in the morning. I went out of my mind and cut another 5cm. So how many cm did you cut in all? 15 cm cut. When my husband wakes up in the morning and puts on his clothes, what is this? My pants got ripped off. The shorts are gone. My husband looked at his pants and shouted out why he cut them so much.
It turns out that my sister cut 5cm, my mother cut 5cm, and my wife cut 5cm too. Although the trousers were short and unsightly, his heart was infinitely happy. "Yeah, what's the big deal about short pants? My family thinks about each other, gives and cares for each other, so what can I envy more?" And he said that he wore the shorts with a sense of pride and attended the meeting.
Guys, we want our homes to be like this. We want our workplace to be like this. We hope that each department of our church will be like this. I hope that we all have a beautiful heart that thinks about, cares for, cares for, and loves each other. Isn't this what Jesus wants us to do? And where there is such a warm heart, won't Jesus come and grant you blessings? We wish you a warmer winter in Calgary with a warm heart that cares for each other.
