Title: Thirst for Truth/John 3:1-15
Many people on this earth see a lot of souls who are still thirsty for the truth. Last week, we received a lot of grace and challenge about the thirst for the gospel of the indigenous peoples of the South Pacific who came to our church and appealed to us with the Word.
1. The thirst for truth
In today's text, a soul thirsting for one man came to Jesus. He was a Jewish ruler named Nicodemus. He was a biblical scholar and a socially successful man who was also a member of parliament today. But he was thirsty. As he always looked at Jesus from his side, he saw the abundant grace and truth that he did not have from Jesus, so he came to Jesus regardless of his status.
Ladies and gentlemen, there are many people on this earth who are searching for the truth.
2. Why are you wandering in search of the truth?
Everyone, Nicodemus, who came to Jesus here today, was also a soul who could not shake off his anxiety about his own life. How are you? Is your life well prepared?
3. Unless you are born again of water and the Spirit, you cannot enter the kingdom of God.
The Lord accurately grasps Nicodemus' conflict with the truth and teaches him the truth to quench his thirst.
It means that we must be born again of water and the Spirit.
What do you mean by water here?
Some people say that water is water baptism. However, while the word water baptism makes sense, it would be more accurate to say that it is the word of Jehovah. It is the fact that the Word of God transforms and regenerates us.
The man of destruction, condemned by the world, received the word of God, met Jesus, and found a living hope. This is the kinetic power of God's Word that revitalizes the soul. God's word has the power of love that makes people's hearts infinitely happy.
And one more thing is the Holy Spirit. No matter how much we read the Bible, it is of no benefit to us without the working of the Holy Spirit. Those who have read the Bible only as knowledge without the Holy Spirit's work, those who say that they know it rather use it to hinder the gospel, to persecute the church, and to use it to drive young people away from faith in Jesus There are a lot of these.
Therefore, we desperately need the help of the Holy Spirit.
The Bible says 1 Corinthians 12:3 “Therefore I make it known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.” Without the working of the Holy Spirit, no matter how much we want to believe, the Bible cannot be believed as the Word of God. Dear friends, do you believe the Bible here today as the Word of God? Amen? You have the guidance of the Holy Spirit today. Hallelujah!
Today, Nicodemus understood the new birth on a physical level. At what age can I now go back into my mother's womb and be born again?
Today, many people are trying to understand Jesus with our minds as knowledge. Gentlemen, Jesus is not something we can understand with our knowledge. Jesus says: “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it is going. This is true of all who are born of the Spirit.” He says, only those who are born of the Spirit can properly believe in Jesus and enjoy the blessing of eternal life.
dear ones
Are you not thirsty for the truth?
