Jesus always called God Father (Parent). "When Jesus had said these things, he lifted up his eyes and looked up to heaven, and said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify the Son, that he may glorify the Father" (John 17:1). ' or 'Father!' appears.
He also taught us to call God our Father. "Therefore pray this way, our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name" (Matthew 6:9) And the Lord's Prayer concludes with this. “Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil” (Thy are the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen)” (Matthew 6:13) It begins with the Father and ends with the Father.
Recently, the Lord's Prayer has been newly translated. Although not yet used in public worship, the newly translated Lord's Prayer reads:
“Our Father in heaven, sanctify your name, your kingdom come, and your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread, forgive us our sins as we forgive those who trespass against us, lead us not into temptation, deliver us from evil. The kingdom and the power and the glory are yours forever. Amen” in this new translation more emphasis on 'Father'
Why is God comparing Himself to a 'Father'? Because the Father is the one closest to God's disposition.
Of course, some argue that it should be 'parent' instead of father over this part.
However, since the original text of the Bible says 'Father', there is no other way. But being a parent is not wrong.
But why is God comparing Himself to 'parents'? It's not perfect, but it's because parents are most like God.
That is why the Bible constantly talks about honoring parents.
In the Ten Commandments, 'honoring one's parents' is placed first among the various principles that humans must follow.
"Honor your father and mother, that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you" (Exodus 20:12).
Even the book of Deuteronomy even says this. “Cursed is he who despises his father and mother; and all the people shall say, Amen.”
What do you think of when you hear these words? Do you take it for granted? If so, you're lucky.
However, in front of these words, you may have some objection.
'It is indisputable that God is the object of our worship. God has given us even his only begotten Son.
But our parents don't. What did our parents do for us?'
There is some truth to this thinking. But what does the Bible say today?
"Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother. This is the first commandment with a promise, that it may go well with you and you may live long on the earth." (Ephesians 6:1-3)
What kind of parent is 'parent' in the text? There is only one condition. It's called 'my parents'.
He doesn't put any conditions on what his parents are like, he only says one thing.
'You' means 'yes'. The Bible teaches that we must obey because we are parents, not because we obey what our parents have done for us.
It doesn't stop here. In verse 2, Paul repeats 'Honor your father and mother', using a stronger word.
The word obedience means that a subordinate listens to and follows a superior.
Therefore, this word is used between God and man, but it is also used between man and man.
But there is a word stronger than this word obedience. It's just honour.
Respect is a word used by humans when they serve God (John 5:23).
I'm writing that word right now. It means to serve and treat your parents with the attitude of serving God.
However, it does not end here, and in Leviticus 19:3, we can see that the word reverence is used in a stronger sense than reverence, emphasizing parental respect.
Obedience, reverence, and reverence are words related to man's attitude toward God.
However, the word is used in relation to parental respect. This seems to mean that you shouldn't say anything about honoring your parents.
Nevertheless, we need to think about whether or not there is some kind of gorbanism in us.
Gorbanism is the claim to rationalize one's own actions and attitudes.
“Moses said, ‘Honor your father and mother.’ And he said, ‘Anyone who blasphemes your father or mother will surely die. "(Mark 7:10-11) Of course, parents must do well.
There are so many things that are ignored because they do not treat their children personally and set an example just because they are parents, so verse 4 goes on like this.
“And fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4).
However, you should put this part aside and listen to God's word as a child.
Seeing that there is no condition attached to the word 'parent', that parents are a type of God, obedience, respect, reverence, and words that should only be attached to God are attached to parents and saying to serve, we feel in our hearts. You must be able to make a commitment.
So, how should we serve? It is not easy to set a uniform standard in today's complex and diverse society.
Gary Chapman, a prominent Christian counselor in the United States, in his book 'The Five Languages of Love', wrote that just as everyone communicates with their own language system, the way people love has a unique language system, and through this, Claiming to convey emotions, he presented five love languages.
The first is acknowledgment, dialogue. Older people want to hear recognition.
You want to be part of the conversation.
These two words, 'I' and 'Men', are very interesting. When you say 'I', your mouth opens. Conversely, if you say 'male', your mouth will be closed.
That is why it is said that when 'I' also closes his heart, he becomes 'Men', and 'Men' also becomes 'I' when he opens his heart.
Open your heart and look at your parents. There is another 'me'.
Second, it's time to be together. You can see the Apostle Paul admonishing Timothy in his old age, saying, "Come quickly to me, and bring Mark with you when you come" (2 Timothy 4:9-11).
When you get older, you feel lonely. We want to be together. it's fine in words Even though I understand everything, I miss my children like that, and I want to be with them even for one night.
Third, it is a gift. Again, Paul said, "I ask you to bring your outer garment when you come (2 Timothy 4:13). The outer garment means material. The older you get, the more you need material in this and that part. It's hard, but you should be able to fill that part."
Fourth, service. It's about creating a working environment. That way, you can have a pastime and spend that long time.
Fifth, physical contact. When they say they smell, they say they are old, and those handsome children do not approach them. Consciously avoid physical contact.
But I want them to be those who express these five love languages with their whole bodies.
