Title: Those After God's Heart
Content Sunshine must also fit God's heart, and especially when choosing a successor, it must be more in line with God's will. In the text, the word “according to” means “one who is in touch with the heart,” and only when it fits into God’s heart, we can serve according to God’s will. Even if your appearance is dedicated and your careers are diverse, you must not go against God's heart.
1. We must cooperate with God's work 20-21
(1) Pursuing good leaders20- “After that, he gave them judges until Samuel the prophet.” “After that” in the first verse refers to the period until the conquest of Canaan, so “after that” means judges after the conquest of Canaan. means the times.
Samuel was the last judge, and these were God's appointed men, many good men, and good leaders, and God directly governed his people through the judges. Although the people of Israel often did evil (Judges 6:1, 10:6), God did not leave them and saved them even though He disciplined them. Those who have been saved through Christ welcome them because it is in God's heart to follow God's ordained leaders because they cooperate with God's work.
(2) Abandoning their claim21- “After that, they asked for a king… and gave him Saul for forty years” These people challenged God’s sovereignty and asked to appoint a king because Samuel was too old. and envy of the kingship of other nations (1 Samuel 8:5). Israel's request for a king was a natural demand in the world's politics, but religiously, it was an unbelieving act that deviated from God's rule (1 Samuel 8:5,7), so God established it and destroyed it (Hos 13:11). However, God appointed a king at their request, so David could become a king. Anyway, we must abandon the claims of men and conform to God's heart.
2. Must be one who will fulfill God's will 22-23
(1) It is a life of obedience22- “He abolished David and made him king … I met David, a man after my own heart, and according to my will…” Saul sinned and became a renegade king, but his sin was to offer burnt offerings and serve as priest He disobeyed because he did not completely destroy Amalek (1 Samuel 15:9-11) and tried to kill David in his last years was a sin. The text does not mean David's innocence, but rather that he will play a decisive role in accomplishing what God wants to do. David also committed the extreme sin of taking Uriah's wife and killing Uriah (2 Samuel 11:), but David went to the path of righteousness through repentance. .
(2) Believing and doing according to the Bible Chapter 23 - “As God promised...” Jesus Christ came into the world as God promised (2 Samuel 7:12). And it is not an accidental event, but the event that God promised in advance has been fulfilled (Romans 1:2-3). If you do not believe and obey the Bible, God's will will not be fulfilled and you will not be able to live according to God's heart. God's will is to receive eternal life and the resurrection of the body by believing in Jesus (John 6:40). You just need to believe and obey God's Word, the Bible. God's promise is the Bible. We too must believe that the Bible is the word of God, and when preaching is transferred from the world to the Bible, the soul will prosper and prosper in all things (3 John 1:2)
(3) Belief in the salvation of Jesus 23b- “From this man’s seed … hath raised up a Savior, Jesus.” Humans cannot be saved by any other name (Acts 4:12), and in the text “Savior The two words “… Jesus” are continuous, “and he hath appointed the Savior Jesus.” “Jesus” itself means that the Lord saves (Matthew 1:12), and the meaning of the two words in succession is very large. “2 Samuel 7:12” tells us that Christ is the son of David, and the prophets speak of the coming Christ as “the branch of Jesse, the root of David, and David” (Isaiah 11:1, Ezekiel 34:23). And “Savior” is the name of the Lord of salvation (Matthew 1:21), so the witness of Jesus is one after God’s own heart.
(Conclusion) We must fit ourselves into God's heart, and so must the successors of the church. It must fit into the heart of God, who looks at the heart rather than the outward appearance and splendid career (1 Samuel 16:7). Because we prayed a lot, our faith has grown and we can expect a good successor.
