Title: Those People at That Time
Content At that time, those people / Matthew 26:6-13
Introduction
About 2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ, who knew no sin and was without blemish or blemish, bore all our sins, suffered all kinds of suffering, and was nailed to death on a cross, the most vicious method of execution, and the people around him at that time. We would like to share the grace by introducing ourselves as we face the Passion Week.
1. Mary (Matthew 26:6-13)
In the Gospels, several Marys are introduced. Mary who gave birth to Jesus and raised him as a child; Mary possessed by seven demons and healed through Jesus (Luke 8:2); Mark's mother Mary (Mt 26:18; Acts 1:12-14), who provided her mansion with her husband, Mary, who lived in Bethany, the younger sister of Martha and the sister of Lazarus, etc. Maria who lives in .
Although this Mary was not a disciple of Jesus, she loved Jesus more than anyone else, so to commemorate the death of Jesus, a bowl of pure nard oil equivalent to 300 denarii (300 workers' daily wages) (Mark 14:5) (John 12:3) ) and poured it over his head, devoting himself.
The disciples were indifferent and slandered Mary's dedication, but Mary silently poured out the entire jar of perfume on Jesus. Jesus said of this woman, “You have done a good thing for me.” “Wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in remembrance of her.”
Even now, devotion to the Lord is given by those who love the Lord regardless of their position or religious experience. Also, this week is a difficult week, so how will you dedicate yourself?
2. Disciples of Jesus
They were called by Jesus, and they were raised as disciples for three years, and they were loved a lot.
How did Jesus react when he was arrested and afflicted?
1) Judas Iscariot - They slandered Mary's dedication (John 12:4-6) and sold Jesus to the members of the council for 30 pieces of silver (Luke 22:3-6).
2) Peter- When Jesus was arrested and tortured and tried by the members of the council, he denied that he did not know (deny, swear and deny, curse and swear and deny) three times. (Matthew 26:69-74)
3) Other disciples- When Jesus was arrested, all the disciples ran away (Matthew 26:56)
3. Members of the council- He condemned Jesus and sentenced him to death (Matthew 26:57-66).
The council members were the leaders of the Jewish religion and were members of the council in charge of the Inquisition and even civil trials.
1) They set up false witnesses to give false testimony. (Matthew 26:59-60)
2) He was sentenced to death by accusing Jesus of blasphemy (Matthew 26:65-66).
4. Pilate- He was indecisive and irresponsible, causing Jesus to be crucified.
Since Pilate was the governor of Israel sent from Rome, he was to judge Jesus Christ, who was transferred by the council members.
1) Pilate's wife asked Pilate not to have anything to do with Jesus Christ because he was a righteous man (Matthew 27:19)
2) Pilate found no sin in Jesus, but he was nailed to the cross because he was afraid of a riot. (Matthew 27:24-26)
5. Crowds - They were traitors.
1) These crowds were the ones who shouted that Jesus was a prophet from Nazareth when he finally entered Jerusalem.
2) These people heard the words of Jesus and witnessed miracles.
3) These groups were bribed by the members of the council, and they pardoned the infamous Barabbas and betrayed Jesus by shouting at the whale whale to crucify Jesus (Mark 15:11; Matthew 26:20).
6. Simon of Cyrene- He carried the cross of Jesus and went up to Golgotha Hill.
Simon of Cyrene didn't want it, but he was forced to carry the cross that Jesus was to be hung on, went up to Golgotha Hill, saw Jesus' death, and became a believer and was saved (Matthew 27:32).
7. The centurion and those who kept Jesus - When Jesus died on the cross, when the veil of the sanctuary was torn in two, the earth shook, the rocks were torn, the tombs opened, and many of the bodies of the saints who had slept rose up. He confessed that he was. (Matthew 27:51-54)
8.Women - The women who watched Jesus die after being whipped and suffering on the cross were many women from Galilee, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and Mary the mother of James and John ( Matthew 27:55-56)
9. Rich Joseph of Arimathea- This man was a member of the council, a noble man, and was waiting for the kingdom of God. He went to Pilate and got permission to bury him in his new tomb (Matthew 27:57-60, Mark 15:42-46).
conclusion
It is because of our transgressions and sins that Jesus Christ suffered the greatest punishment and was crucified. Jesus died on the cross, with the rods that we will be beaten and the sufferings we will suffer. 2000 years ago, at that time, there were traitors (disciples, the crowd), there were those who only sinned (members of the council, Judas Iscariot), there were those who watched to the end (women), and there were those who devoted themselves voluntarily ( Simon of Cyrene, Mary, and Joseph of Arimathea), and there were others who confessed that Jesus was the Son of God. We are now living in the last days of Lent and we are facing the Holy Week. How are we participating in the suffering and death of Jesus now?
He was pierced for our transgressions, and he was bruised for our iniquities.
