Title: Those Under the New Covenant
Contents
As we all know, God has given two covenants to everyone in this world. The first covenant was given through Moses, and the second covenant came through Jesus Christ. The Bible calls the first covenant the old covenant and the second covenant the new covenant.
When God established these two covenants, the first covenant was established with animal blood, and the second covenant was established with human blood. These two bloods are also the blood of the guarantee that guarantees the covenant with the oath, but in reality it became the blood of atonement. Then, in order to make atonement, you must go inside the veil and sprinkle seven times on the mercy seat and before the mercy seat.
It is written about Aaron's order, "He will take the blood of a bull and sprinkle it with his finger on the east side of the mercy seat, and with his finger he will sprinkle the blood seven times in front of the mercy seat. You shall walk with blood as you do with blood, and sprinkle it on the mercy seat and before the mercy seat” (Leviticus 16:14-15). This is the “half difference”.
The sin offering for sins committed under the first covenant was different. The high priest's sin was the blood of a bull, and the sin offering for the people's sins was the blood of a goat. went in. This sacrifice was offered in the sanctuary made with hands, which is the shadow of the true tabernacle, and was only necessary until the eternal sin offering of the second covenant to be offered at the true tabernacle.
It must be a human who brings the blood of the animals of the first covenant or the blood of the people of the second covenant into the veil. This is because it is the atonement of man's sins.
The one who enters into the veil with this atoning blood is a high priest whom he chose and anointed from among the men. The high priest of the first covenant with animal blood was chosen from the tribe of Levi, and the high priest of the second covenant with human blood was chosen from the tribe of Judah. This meant that he became a priest of another tribe that had nothing to do with the priesthood of the tribe of Levi.
It is written, "If perfection could be obtained through the Levitical priesthood (the people received the law under him), why is it necessary to appoint a special priest after the order of Melchizedek and not after the order of Aaron? When there is a change, the law must also be changed. This is speaking of those who belong to a tribe in which no one worships the work of the altar. Our Lord must have been born of Judah. In this tribe Moses did not say anything about the priests, and there was nothing like Melchizedek. It is all the more evident when I see a priest rising” (Hebrews 7:11-15).
Therefore, concerning the priesthood of the new covenant, it is written, “Behold my servant whom I hold, my chosen one, whom my heart delights in; I have given him my Spirit, and he will do justice to the Gentiles” (Isaiah 42:1) It is written again, "It is written in the scriptures, Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, a precious and essential, chosen, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame..." (1 Peter 2:6).
Therefore, even if Aaron's order is a sacrifice that reminds us of sins, it cannot be a sacrifice that takes away sins. This is because the blood of animals cannot take away sins. As it is written, “For the blood of bulls and goats cannot take away sins” (Hebrews 10:4).
However, the true sacrifice of eternal redemption offered by human blood under the new covenant is to perpetuate sins according to the prophecy. It is written, “If the blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling the unclean, for the purification of the flesh to sanctify it, how much more the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God? can you not cleanse them and serve the living God?” (Hebrews 9:13-14) and again, “Now that these have been forgiven, there is no more offering for sins” (Hebrews 10:18). Thank you Lord.
Therefore, Christ, who became the eternal High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek, does not change his priesthood either. For he never dies again and never dies. As it is written, “Knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, will die no more, and that death shall no longer have dominion over him” (Romans 6:9).
And the truth testifies, "Jesus lives forever, and his priesthood does not change; therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to make intercession for them. He was worthy, holy, blameless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and exalted above the heavens” (Hebrews 7:24-26).
Therefore, there is no more sacrifice for sin to those who are not under the old covenant but under the new covenant. This is because they are all royal priests who have been crucified with Christ, have with him the blood of the flesh, and follow him in the torn veil that no longer needs a covering. It is written, “That way is a new and living way that he has opened for us through the veil, and the veil is his flesh” (Hebrews 10:20). Amen.
Therefore, without the shedding of blood there is no remission. Thank you Lord.
