Those who saved Naaman
(2007.03.11. Week) (2 Kings 5:1~14)
The era of President Park Chung-hee was the time when a poor country made economic development and laid a foundation for a prosperous life. So people say that President Park Chung-hee achieved economic development. - I'm not saying it's wrong, but at that time, such economic development would not have been possible without people who worked 12 hours a day while reducing their sleep, people who went to the hot Middle East to earn foreign currency, and soldiers who were sent to Vietnam to earn foreign currency in exchange for their lives. will be
Professors who publish their research results in university labs become celebrities - but it is difficult for one or two professors to leave such a great achievement without the help of their students who worked hard together.
It was a climate that made only the name of one representative famous.
But now, instead of giving all credit to a single representative, we must acknowledge the contributions of small collaborators.
With the Bible I read today, I would like to ask you one question. - Who healed Naaman the leper?
*Are you God? - Of course, God healed him. - Except for God, who healed people?
*Are you the prophet Elisha? - That's right. Elisha the prophet healed him. - Any more?
*Elisha wasn't the only one who healed Naaman - Let's see who healed Naaman.
1. The prophet Elisha revealed the way of salvation.
You may have heard through sermons that it was the prophet Elisha who healed Naaman the leper.
(5:10) - "Elisha sent an angel to him, saying, "Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh will be restored and you will be clean." is.
(5:14) - “So Naaman went down and immersed himself seven times in the Jordan River, as the man of God had said, and his flesh was restored like that of a young child, and he was cleansed.” - Elisha did as the prophet had told him, but Naaman was leprous. was cleansed from
Obedience to the prophet is the same as obeying the God who raised the prophet.
Like Naaman who was cleansed by obedience to the prophet - I pray that you will be healed and blessed by obeying the words of the pastor.
You have a pastor who preaches the word for you, so they are really happy people.
*Naaman had leprosy - but Naaman did not know how to cure it. There were no prophets in the Syrian kingdom where Naaman lived. - How did Naaman know and visit the prophet?
2. I met the prophet through a young maidservant.
In Naaman's house there was a young maidservant who had been taken away from Israel as a slave. The child is an Israelite and believes in God. And we depend on the prophets of God.
But the owner of his house had leprosy - so he took pity on him and thought of a way to fix it.
*(5:3)-“And he said to his mistress, I wish that our master was before the prophet in Samaria, and he will heal the leper.”
*The mistress, who heard the word of the prophet because of her servant, must have told her husband Naaman again.
Naaman is perplexed and asks the king to send him to the prophet of Israel.
*(5:5) - "The king of Syria said, Go, now I will send a message to the king of Israel."
Naaman did not know the prophets of Israel. But the young maidservant who knew the prophet informed the mistress of the prophet, and the mistress informed her husband of the prophet, and the king of the country sent Naaman to the prophet. - So Naaman went to the prophet.
Naaman did not know the Prophet, nor did the Prophet go to Naaman - but Naaman was healed because the young slave girl, Naaman's wife, and the king of the country worked together to send Naaman to the Prophet to meet him.
3. He was healed by faith of Naaman's servants.
Naaman had a big heart and went to the prophet and met him. And I heard the gospel of the prophet.
But Naaman did not gain faith easily. The proud Naaman was offended by the Prophet's disrespect for him. So I turned around and turned away from the Prophet.
I almost forfeited my chance of salvation. He became a person who had to die from an incurable disease.
At that time, there were people who were sad to see it.
*(5:13) - "His servants came and said, "My father, if the prophet had told you to do a great thing, would you not have done it? How much more would he say to you, Wash and be clean?" Not people I've known for a long time - like Naaman, they met the Prophet for the first time that day. They were the first to hear the words of the prophet. - Naaman did not have faith even after hearing the gospel and tried to return. - The servants had faith after hearing the words of the prophet they had never seen for the first time.
Today, when we look at this event, we must not simply view it as the event in which Naaman was saved.
Are there people around you who need to be healed and saved?
4. The work of saving souls must be done by everyone.
Naaman could not have met the prophet without the maidservant, and even after meeting the prophet, if he had been a servant, he would not have been healed. It was not only the prophet who healed Naaman, but the maidservant and his servants.
Since you have heard these words of the saints who are human, you must realize your mission in these words.
① There are still countless people who need to be saved.
Naaman was a man who needed salvation, but he did not know the way to salvation himself - it is still the same now. Unbelievers are people who need to be saved. - But they don't come to the church on their own.
②You must preach the gospel.
Naaman was saved because there was a little girl who preached the gospel that if she met a prophet, she would be healed. - You must preach the gospel like that servant girl - If you believe in God, you will be saved, if you go to church, you will be saved, Let's go to Kyungil Church together - You have a mission to preach the gospel.
③ I hope that you will become a senior who cares for you and guides you.
When Naaman, who had a hard time finding the Prophet, was about to go back in vain - Who was the person who blocked the way and made him obey the words of the Prophet? They are not people who have been religious for a long time. They also met the prophet for the first time that day, but they were people who had faith a little bit earlier than Naaman.
You too should be like that - there are always people who go to church and go out into the world after giving up their faith in the middle. In that case, you have to hold on and lead.
It is not the responsibility of those who have been in the faith for a long time. It is not necessary to have great faith.
*The woman at the well in Samaria also preached throughout the town the day she first met Jesus.
*A young child who was taken as a prisoner of war and served as a slave also preached the gospel.
*They were servants who first met the prophet and heard the gospel for the first time, but they led their master.
Dear saints, there is no difference between men, women and children, the rich and the poor in sharing the gospel - you must preach the gospel. It is your duty to hold fast with the ropes of faith to those who are losing their faith.
*For those who do not attend church, please introduce the church and bring them to the church.
* Please surround, beat, and hold onto those who have given up their faith and are about to fall.
Let's all work hard for the gospel and become God's good workers who save many souls.
