Title: Those Who Seek the Way of Jesus
Those who seek the way of Jesus 2007-04-04
I. Text Commentary
II. Timothy's life
We have served God in this way and that way, and we are still serving God. Many people serve the Lord, but there are very few people who serve only the Lord through their work. Paul first introduces Timothy as a man who values the things of Christ Jesus as the most important and does not seek his own. Indeed, we need to reconsider how we will evaluate ourselves who serve the church now. Then, referring to Timothy, Paul said, “You know the training of Timothy.” When we think of Timothy, what comes to mind is “a man of the pulpit”. Timothy inherited the faith from her maternal grandmother Lois and her mother Eunice. They not only inherited a precious heritage of faith, but also suffered severe hardship both physically and in ministry.
III. Timothy's Podium
A. Seeking the work of Jesus
B. Partnering for the Gospel
I have met people who resemble the person of Christ around me, but they have one distinct thing in common. It is that they are all people of suffering for the gospel of Christ. We also have a place for the mission that God has entrusted to us. There, when persecution and suffering overlap, there are very few who silently and steadfastly endure for the sake of the gospel. Patience until you want to be patient is not grace. It is only suffering to receive until one can bear it. Refinement is what you have to endure when you can't stand it. Suffering makes people more and more sterile and worldly, but suffering makes people more and more people of God with a personality that resembles Jesus.
IV. Conclusion and application
It is incomparable to anything to shed tears while meditating on the cross during the Holy Week. However, the problem is that after wiping away the tears, we must come to the place of the mission God has entrusted to us with clear conviction and solid faith. Are there times when your prayers seem to be blocked? Prayer is easy in the place God has established. No matter how difficult or weak the position God has set up for work, no matter how difficult or weak you are, if you struggle to stand in the position the Lord has entrusted to you, the door of prayer will be easily opened again. God will see more grace in groaning in the Lord's ministry than in crying out of the Lord's ministry. “With the Saviour I died, and with the Saviour I live.” This is what it means to follow Jesus. Think deeply during your troubled week. The Lord said, “OOO, what is the cross you are carrying for me?” What would you answer if asked?
