Title: Those with Paul 7 Apollos
Contents Paul's side 7 Apollos
Apollo's hometown is Alexandria. At that time, Alexandria was the second largest city on the Mediterranean coast. Rome was the biggest. Next was Alexandria. Africa. It's petty.
Apollos, who lived there, played a major role in the history of the early church. He became Paul's sidekick. I am going to study Apollos from now on.
1. Apollos, the man of the Bible
The Acts of the Apostles says Apollos.
(Acts 18:24)
In other bibles it is written .
The RSV Bible says .
It seems to be all right. It seems that he knew the Bible well and was a deep and eloquent person in science. He was a competent person in every way.
2. Apollos who delivers even when it is not enough
Apollos heard of Jesus early. Alexandria, Romana, and Antioch were the three largest cities at the time. So Christianity entered early.
Persecuted Jews in Jerusalem fled. Big cities are easy to hide. So, the Christian gospel was already witnessed in these three major cities. It was the gospel preached by the Jerusalem saints.
So Apollos, whose hometown was Alexandria, received Jesus early. But they did not know the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I only knew the baptism of John.
Nevertheless, Apollos was a man who preached Jesus from place to place. He was a brave man who didn't wait until he was perfect, but preached even if he was imperfect. The Bible says so.
(Acts 18:24-25)
Those who wait until perfection to do God's work cannot do God's work. It should go like this.
God is the One who gives power to those who want to do it even if it is not enough.
3. Apollos maturing.
Although Apollos knew Jesus, he did not know him properly, but he went here and there, preaching the gospel. It was also delivered today.
When we were witnessing the gospel in Ephesus, something finally happened. I'm trying to read the bible.
(Acts 18;26-28)
Priscilla and Aquila listened to Apollos while preaching the gospel in the church at Ephesus. When the couple heard about it, they knew nothing but John's baptism and were preaching Jesus. So he took him home. You can get a glimpse of the love wisdom of a couple who took the instructor to their home. And he taught me the Bible.
Finally, Apollos was a mature man. So I went to Achaia and preached the gospel. I went there and it helped me a lot.
I have spoken boldly before, but it is never said to have benefited me. No matter how hard you try, you may not be able to benefit.
It will be beneficial if you know it properly and communicate it properly.
Apollos was perfected by the meeting of Priscilla and Aquila.
4. Apollos expanding the boundaries of missions
Priscilla and Aquila wanted to send Apollos to the Corinthian church to lead a revival meeting. So, the Corinthian church was introduced. Apollos went to the church in Corinth to testify of the word. How great was the influence, Apollos were born. It was a church that Paul planted, so there were Paulists. Where people live, there seems to be a wave like this. So a dispute arose between the Apollos and the Paulians. Apollos was a talker. But Paul was a dull man. Apollo seems to have grown in popularity. So there was a wave and there was a problem. So Paul wrote a letter to the church in Corinth. This is well documented in the letter.
(1 Corinthians 3:4-9)
Paul saw the Corinthian church as a field. At first he came and sowed good seeds. Apollos watered. And God made it. God took the work of both men as important. The planter is important, and so is the waterer. Both are important.
But more importantly, it is the God who nourishes. No matter how much you plant, no matter how much you water, if you don't nurture it, it's useless.
5. Apollos the authorship of Hebrews
In 1537 Martin Luther said that the book of Hebrews was written by Apollos. Why?
There is the New Testament in the Old Testament. Isaiah. In particular, reading 40 chapters or less is like reading the Gospel. Perhaps more accurate than the Gospels.
See only one place.
(Isa 53:4-7)
It is the image of Jesus. 700 years before Jesus came, Isaiah wrote it as if he had seen Jesus.
However, there is also the Old Testament in the New Testament. Hebrews. The book of Hebrews is like the Old Testament when you read it. See only one place.
(Heb 9:1-8)
It's just an old testament. But Apollos had already studied that he was well versed in the Old Testament.
(Acts 18:24)
The word ?쐏owerful??in the Bible is the Old Testament. At the time of the early church, there was no New Testament at all. Apollos was fluent in the Old Testament. So Luther said that the book of Hebrews was written by Apollos. Since then, many have followed this doctrine.
As of yet, no one can say for sure who the author is. Paul's theory is the most convincing. But Apollos is not easy.
However, it is clear that Apollos is an indispensable person in the history of the early church. And he was a formidable man among the people next to Paul. Apollos was a great man. He was a brave man. This is the man God once used.
