Title: Three Definitions of God
Revelation (5)
3 Definitions of God
(Revelation 1:8)
1. Ruler of all things
In the book of Revelation, John testifies of what he has seen and heard, and the first voice he heard is the word that shows who God is. And first he said, “I am the Alpha and the Omega.” Alpha is the first letter of the Greek (Greek, language in which the New Testament is written) and Omega is the last letter. In other words, God is the ruler of all things, the beginning and the end.
There is a message from the fact that God is ‘the ruler of all things’. First of all, it challenges the importance of cherishing nature. It is a spiritual and holy thing to cherish the nature created by God. Also, to say that God is in control of all things means that “all situations, experiences, and events that we face are under the hand of God.” Sometimes difficult things happen in life, but those things were done with God's permission. Satan's activity and attacks on us are only permitted under God's control for a certain period of time.
Also, the fact that God, who is the ruler of all things, created us means that when God created us, He created us with sufficient potential to become valuable people. God gave us weaknesses as well as strengths. And he brings blessings and hardships. Virtually everything is given for a good purpose by God (James 1:17). Nothing can be done on your own. God must help you in every way.
2. Anyone everywhere
In the text, God describes Himself as “the one who is, was and was, and is to come.” God transcends time and space and is everywhere. God is here now. How comforting are these words? Even if we do not have a lot of money to receive worldly blessings, what more blessings can there be than that God is with me, is pleased with me, loves me quietly, and rejoices over me?
Feel the freedom and peace of mind through the truth that God is with us in every moment of our lives. The Lord said. “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” If there is great freedom in such truth, what envy and worry would there be? No matter how insignificant you appear to be, God still speaks. “Anyone! I am very happy because of you.” How blessed is it if you always recognize and live the voice of God?
It's amazing how we had faith and how people like us received God's love. Although he has many sins, faults, and contradictions, the fact that God has made him a child and has given him grace is a proof that there is something in himself that God sees as good in himself, which he may not even recognize. Also, whenever I think about my personality, I say that I have a bad personality, but I believe that I am living in grace and living close to the Word and prayer because there are parts of that personality that God is pleased with.
3. The Almighty
Belief in God's omnipotence is a source of amazing power. God is pleased to work through people who have such faith. Have faith that I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. David was able to lead a successful life because he had Almighty God as his strength and, furthermore, loved God more than anyone else. To love God is to give thanks even in the midst of suffering.
One day, a woman also contracted bowel cancer and had two-thirds of her large intestine removed. And the continued chemotherapy was very difficult. The hardest thing for me was dying leaving my two young daughters in elementary school. When I think of my two young daughters, I always feel regret, saying, “I thought I would take good care of my health.” I wasn't afraid to die, but thinking of my two daughters, I really wanted to live.
One day, as she meditated deeply on God, she wept. He said that he thought of his daughter like that, but he thought that God sacrificed his only begotten Son for him, so he was deeply grateful for God's love and wept. At first, I cried because of my body aches, then I cried because of my heart, but finally I cried because I was thankful for God's love. The amazing thing was that when I cried because of physical and aches, there was no relief, but when I cried in gratitude for God's love, a wonderful healing work appeared.
The life that God is most pleased with is a life of gratitude for everything. Especially when we think about the love of God who sent Jesus to be crucified, no matter how much we give thanks, it is not enough. A believer should give thanks even for a piece of dry bread in the midst of suffering. Don't focus on what you've lost, focus on what's left. A person who complains about what has been lost is an unhappy person, and a person who is always grateful for what is left is a happy person.
