Title: Three major prescriptions for fear
<Three major prescriptions for fear>
When the Lord stopped his silence and walked on the sea, the disciples were afraid, so the Lord said, “It is I, do not be afraid!” (verse 20) If you are in a difficult situation, listen to the voice of the Lord now. “I am not afraid.” Even if you have an urgent prayer topic and have an anxious heart, listen to this voice now. “I am not afraid.” Also, listen to this voice now even if you feel frustrated because it is difficult because of people. “I am not afraid.”
This is 2 Timothy 1:7. “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” Fear is not God-given. After all, fear is a sign that you must keep God at the center of your heart. In particular, God has given us three tools to overcome our fears. What is it?
1. Ability
What are abilities? The Bible consistently calls the real great power the power of the cross (1 Corinthians 1:18). Abilities also have levels. First, the ability to solve problems is the most flashy, but not the highest. Second, the ability to transcend problems is higher than the ability to solve problems, but it is not the best ability. Third, the ability to audit problems is the best ability.
Among the leaders, there are three types of leaders. The first is a revivalist leader, the second is a saint leader, and the third is a martyr leader. The ability to solve problems is the ability of a revivalist. The ability to transcend problems is the power of a saint. The ability to appreciate problems is a martyr's ability. After all, the greatest power is the ability to give thanks even after taking up the cross. The power of the cross, which enables me to rise from the dead with you, is the true power to create community. If you are prepared to carry the cross with the power of the cross, the fear within you will quickly disappear.
2. love
Menninger, the famous psychoanalyst, put it this way: “People are afraid because they are too self-absorbed.” When a person is too preoccupied with himself, he becomes afraid. Bullying is another expression of preoccupation with oneself. How do you break free from preoccupation with yourself? The answer is 'love'. The first thing that happens when you truly love someone is a change of perspective. Selfishness disappears when the gaze changes from oneself to someone who loves oneself, and as selfishness disappears, fear disappears miraculously.
Women are weak, but mothers are strong. Why? Because mothers have a clear target for giving love. Because she is ready to make any sacrifices for the sake of her beloved children, that love makes her overcome her fears and strengthens her mother. In 1 John 4:18, God speaks through the Apostle John. “There is no fear in love; perfect love casts out fear.” Love makes you strong.
3. Sober mind
There are two types of people depending on whether they are greedy or not. One kind of person is a ‘pilgrim’ and the other kind is a ‘refugee’. Refugees always stock their bags for safety in the future, but there are holes in their bags and they cannot be filled no matter how many times they are filled. On the other hand, pilgrims go on the pilgrimage lightly, always giving their things for their neighbors. A refugee's heart is fearful, and a pilgrim's is a sober heart.
A sober mind means a wise state of mind that does not lose self-control and judges rightly in the face of problems. When fear comes, people lose control and judgment and pray. "God! Please transfer this hardship and adversity.” The more important prayer at that time is this prayer. "God! How would I act in faith in this situation?” Wisdom to judge and act with faith when faced with fears opens the way to life and develops oneself. That's when the fear of life melts away. If you have a sober mind, your anxious mind will disappear.
