Title: Throw Your Plants on the Water/Ecclesiastes 11

In the book of Ecclesiastes, Solomon confesses honestly and honestly what life is like with a penitent attitude.

1. “Throw your plants over the water” (1-6).

A worthwhile life is to throw away one's possessions without affection or stinginess. Whether it is “throwing the treasure into the dust” (John 22:24), or throwing plants into the water, generously throwing one’s possessions to give alms are valuable actions in life. Rather than throwing it away at one or two people, giving it to seven, that is, to many people, or to eight more people is a more valuable and abundant life. It's about being merciful in as many ways as you can. A hand that "scatters and saves" is a beautiful hand. He becomes more prosperous and enriches others (Proverbs 11:24,25).

There are two reasons to scatter and save. 1) It is because they return to themselves when the time is right (whether in this life or the next life), and 2) Because tribulation always comes in the world and their wealth disappears. “Surely riches will fly away” (Proverbs 23:5). A number of years ago, Calgi fell on Guam, and a wealthy man suffered a disaster that had no choice but to lose 100 billion won of his property along with his immediate family.

Therefore, 1) Don't look at the winds, that is, give relief "in season or out of season." A person who observes the wind cannot give relief in the end. When you are poor, you are poor, and when you are rich, you are rich, that is, because you have too much work to do. 2) Do not try to predict the future, do not cling to tomorrow's interests, and when an opportunity arises, rescue immediately. 3) In the morning, that is, when you are young, and in the evening, that is, when you are old, you must give relief.

2. “Let man always rejoice” (7-10).

The recurring theme of Ecclesiastes is here again. Life is the subject of being happy. A person who lives a dark life is an unhappy person.

The time of children and youth is the time to rejoice and rejoice to the fullest. Rejoice as you do the wonderful things your heart desires and follow the great vision your eyes see. This is the privilege of children and youth. Of course, we must not let go of self-indulgence, always keeping in mind that God judges everything. Some people interpret verse 9 here negatively, that is, not to do what the mind and eyes want, but Alexander McLaren interpreted it positively. In the end, a young man should live joyfully, but he must let his heart depart with sorrow and withdraw from his body with evil.
