Title: Time of Lent Dawn Prayer (16) ...

content n style=line-height:160%>

Let go of the time of early morning prayer for Lent (16) and give blessings (1 Samuel 18:6-16) 2002.03.21.

Lord, I know that deep in my soul there is envy.

When I see other people doing well, I feel uncomfortable with envy.

Lord, take away my jealousy from me.

Now let the times change and become holy service.

Praise the gifts of others with gratitude.

May their gifts be with me as well.

- Thomas Fuller -

David defeats the Philistine enemy, Goliath, and returns as a triumphal general. And a lot of people come out to welcome this parade of triumphs. The song they greeted and shouted was, “Saul has slain a thousand thousands, David has slain ten ten thousand” (verse 7). This was the beginning of the problem. This is the beginning of a tragedy. Now, their king is Saul, and they don't know that David's popularity is high. What will happen? “Saul was displeased with these words, and he was very angry…what else would he have other than me?” (verse 8), wouldn’t David not aim for the king’s throne in the future? means. From this point on, Saul's life becomes evil. Jealousy of David made him blind and clouded in his judgment. He was jealous like a madman trying to kill David. Envy plunges his life into a long bog of tragedy.

A certain monk was walking alone in the wilderness, and he was so good-natured and pious that many called him a living saint. That day too, as he walked alone, the devil followed him and tested him. He appeared in the form of a pretty woman, seduced him while accompanying him, and offered to give him a lot of honor and money, but he did not care about those words and resolutely walked his own path. The nervous devil disguised himself as a priest running from the opposite side of the monk and finally shouted: "Monk, your brother has just been elected bishop of Alexandria." The moment he heard these words, the face of the monk, who had been so peaceful and detached until now, began to contort. Because deep in his heart, jealousy began to boil.

German spiritual leader Vasilea Silink said, "Jealousy is the most universal emotion in man and the deepest driving force behind sin, and therefore true peace and joy can never be experienced without taking it away. The question of how much this jealousy dominates our lives can be quickly realized when we consider where many of the problems we experience come from.

Envy is the wrong energy to ruin your life.

Envy is “an evil will to harm.” When you see the symptoms, you are sarcastic to others or undermine their reputation little by little. While pretending to praise others, they actually emphasize their flaws. And I'm jealous. Jealousy is usually between people of the same age. Envy also leads to discouragement. When others are doing well, my stomach hurts, but when my own work is not going well, I feel discouraged. Envy leads to hypocrisy, and when these symptoms accumulate, eventually love becomes dry.

Envy is a sin that limits human possibilities. Once you get caught up in envy, you can no longer develop your own good points. Saul was a decent man when he was first called to be king. He was a good man worthy of being the first king of Israel. In the book of Samuel, Saul says, “Kish had a son, whose name was Saul, a decent young man, among the children of Israel no one was more virtuous than him, and he was taller than all the people by shoulder height” (1 Samuel 9:2).

Saul was a general and a good son to his father. Seeing that he was a polite person even in front of the prophet, a man of God, shows that he was a man of beautiful faith. In addition, when the prophet Samuel heard from Saul that he was going to make him king over Israel, following God's instructions, he said, "Saul answered and said, Am I not a Benjaminite, the least of the tribe of Israel? And is not my family the weakest among all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? Why do you say these things to me?” (1 Samuel 9:21) He was a man who knew how to humble himself. He was a decent man who showed great resourcefulness and valor in war.

But when Saul began to be jealous, he turned into a bad person. There are many people who have received many talents and good things from God, but they could not overcome the times and ended their lives in tragedy. Envy is ultimately a failure of self-management. The spirituality of self-management is broken. Saul could have been the hero of the nation's founding, but unfortunately he could not overcome the time, and he himself died a grim death.

Amadeus is the story of Amadeus Mozart. There was a great musician named Antonio Salieri, a Vienna court musician. He was popular with people and was respected by musicians as well. He was very religious and worked hard at the church. Then one day, a prodigy, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, appears. In an instant, Salieri began to envy Mozart. From then on, his life changed. He has fallen. He was kicked out of the palace and no one invited him.

He became a drunkard.

Envy is a terrifying emotion that paralyzes life. Envy takes away everything from everyday life. Envy is the most powerful emotion. You focus all your energy on the object of your envy. I'm just trying to figure out how to get rid of the opponent by any means. Other things are out of hand. I can't get out of the swamp of hate and hate. Life is completely paralyzed.

Every day Saul watched David jealously, looking for an opportunity to kill him. From that day on, Saul was filled with only hatred for David. He was unable to perform his duties as a king. In a word, I lost my mind. Even during the war, Saul pursued David to the wilderness of En-gedi in search of whereabouts (1 Samuel 24).

Envy is a terrifying emotion that prevents you from focusing on anything but the object you are jealous of. Reminds me of the Snow White fairy tale. Snow White's mother died and another mother came in. This queen had a magic mirror, and she looked in the mirror every day and said, 'Mirror, mirror! in this world

Who is the prettiest?" It looks like she had severe princess disease. Snow White, who has grown over the years, becomes a beautiful woman, and from this point on, the tragedy begins. The beautiful Snow White becomes the envy of the queen. When the mirror says that Snow White is the prettiest princess in the world, the queen falls back and does a lot of bad things to her. There is a saying that wanting to be beautiful is innocence, but I have to be pretty, and when other people are pretty, it is envy. A fight breaks out.

Time takes away everything from our daily lives. Envy completely destroys us. No matter how trustworthy a person may be, they will fall apart when the time runs out. Saul becomes helpless because of envy, and after losing the war, he cannot bear the humiliation and is killed by his own sword.

Antonio Salieri, who was jealous of Mozart, eventually became a psychopath: ‘God, I curse you. Why didn't you give me the talent you gave Mozart?' He died blaming God. In the end, he dies as a punishment for the sin of envying others. Envy is suicidal.

Time is the history of evil spirits.

"The women leaped and sang, saying, "Saul has killed a thousand thousands, and David ten thousand ten thousand." Saul was displeased with these words, and was very angry, saying, "I give ten thousand to David, and ten thousand to me. Saul paid attention to David, and the next day an evil spirit from God came powerfully upon Saul, and he was making a lot of noise in the house, so David played the harp with his hand as usual on weekdays. And he said to himself, "I will drive David into the wall." Saul threw his spear, but David escaped twice before him, and Saul was afraid of him, because the LORD had left Saul with David" (vv. 7-12).

Envy is not just a psychological emotion. There is an evil spirit behind the envy. The envious person is unaware that he is being used as an instrument of Satan. Envy is a bad emotion controlled by evil spirits. “But if you have bitter envy and strife in your hearts, do not boast, and do not lie against the truth. This wisdom does not come down from above, but is of the earth, of lust and of demons, for where there is envy and strife, there is confusion and every evil” (James 3:14-16).

Envy is the sin of evil spirits that eventually kills people. The end of the period is 'Let me die and I will live'. So the jealous person kills the opponent. And he dies too.

Joseph is killed by the envy of his brothers.” Before he came near them, they saw him from a distance and plotted to kill him, saying to one another, “The dreamer is coming. Come, kill him and throw him into a pit, and we will see what his dream will be like when we say, An evil beast has eaten him. When Reuben heard it, he tried to save Joseph from their hand, and said, Let us not harm his life. Reuben also said to them, "Do not shed blood; throw him into the pit in the wilderness, and do not put your hand on him." This was so that he might rescue Joseph from their hand and return him to his father. When Joseph came to his brothers, his brothers took off Joseph's robe, the colored robe he was wearing, and caught him and threw him into a pit, and the pit was empty and there was no water in it" (Genesis 37:18-24).

A man named Iago appears in Othello in W. Shakespeare's tragedy. He is Othello's subordinate. At one time he was fully loyal to his superior, Othello. At the same time, he was coveting the lieutenant position. However, contrary to what he thought, Fashaw was given the position of lieutenant. Iago becomes paranoid that Fasho has taken his place, and he becomes angry and kills his owner, Othello. In this work, Iago is a subordinate of an evil spirit.

Faith that overcomes time - Blessings to all

To overcome envy, you must first love yourself. I am nothing compared to anyone else, I am just me. God compared to other gods, who are you? He answered, “I am me” to the questions of those who asked. I am saying that I am not compared to anyone. When we go down the path of life, we are happy if we live only as God wants us to be. Envy is a bad disease that comes from looking at others without seeing God's great plan within you.

We are God's work. Therefore, they are all valuable. God uses the first and loves the last. There are no ranks in life. Everyone has only one lifetime. I am a unique and non-repeatable miracle of God. I'm not black, he's white. It's not that I'm small, he's big. It's not that I'm fat, he's skinny. I am me.

Don't envy the special you, let's love the ordinary me. What is special is the variant. God treats ordinary me special. You are a more special musician than Domingo or Jo Sumi who go to concerts once or twice a year and perform on a big stage.

You need to let go of envy and bless your neighbors. Let's not spare praise.

When Mozart met Beethoven, he stood in front of a crowd and said, 'Pay attention to this man. This person will be an amazing figure who will remain in the history of world music.” Mozart was also famous, and Beethoven became a successful musician. Schumann also encouraged and blessed Brahms. Brahms forgot his grace and took care of his master until the end when Schumann suffered from mental disorders in his old age. Envy kills each other, but blessing saves each other.
