?Title: Time of the Second Coming Text: Mark 13:32
No one knows when the Second Coming will be. Only the Father knows. The Bible says.
1. Promise of the Second Coming
Jesus promised to come again. It occurs 300 times in the New Testament alone.
Old Testament - Promise of the first coming of Jesus (as the Messiah of all the earth)
New Testament - Promise of the Second Coming of Jesus (as King of Kings)
1) The Old Testament prophets prophesied (Acts 3:19-21)
2) There is the testimony of an angel (Acts 1:11)
(Acts 1:11) He said, "Men of Galilee, why are you standing and looking into heaven? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way you saw him go into heaven."
3) It is the promise of Jesus Christ.
(Matthew 16:27) The Son of Man will come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and at that time will he repay each one according to what he has done.
4) It is the testimony of the apostles
(Colossians 3:4) When Christ, who is our life, appears, then you will also appear with him in glory.
2. Timing of the Second Coming
1) Only the Father knows the time of the Second Coming = Only God is the facilitator of history.
(Mark 13:32) But that day or hour no one knows, neither the angels in heaven nor the Son, but only the Father.
2) The time of the Second Coming may be a spiritual dark age.
In parables, Jesus describes the time of the Second Coming as midnight.
He emphasizes that we are awake in this spiritual dark age.
(Matthew 25:6) In the middle of the night a voice came, saying, Behold, the bridegroom, come out to meet him.
3) The time of the Second Coming may be an age of spiritual confusion.
The second coming of Jesus means that He can come when we are not thinking about it.
(Matthew 24:44) Therefore, be ready, for the Son of Man comes at an hour you do not expect.
4) The time of the Second Coming may be a state of spiritual sleep.
The Bible explains that that was when people were sleeping
(Luke 21:34) Be careful with yourselves, or your hearts will be weighed down with debauchery, drunkenness, and the anxieties of life, and that day will come upon you unexpectedly like a trap.
conclusion:
Only the Lord knows the timing of the Second Coming, and the Lord decides it. Therefore, we must be awake with a mind ready for that time.
