Title: Tips for Surfing (Psalm 107:23-43)
Contents
Now the real summer has begun.
Last summer I went to Everland with my family.
If you go to Everland in summer, there is a 'surf pool'.
Although it is man-made, when a huge wave comes in with the sound of a siren, thousands of people jump into it and enjoy surfing.
However, some people are afraid of the high waves, so they just soak their feet nearby, and some people enjoy it by putting themselves in the high waves several times from the front to enjoy the high waves.
Verse 23 of today's text says, "He who works in the great waters sees in the deep sea the works of the LORD, and his marvelous works."
Those who have never been to the great sea never experience what happens in the deep sea.
The great sea refers to our entire life, and the storm that occurs in the sea can be seen as a sign of great trials and tribulations coming into our lives.
A smooth life is not necessarily a good thing. That doesn't mean you have to deliberately admit to suffering, but that doesn't mean you have to fear or avoid trials and tribulations.
A person who has never experienced trials and tribulations can never experience the wonders of God. On the contrary, trials and hardships can be a good opportunity to experience God's great work and grace in our lives.
If we look back on our experience, in fact, when we are happy and peaceful, we do not have a longing for God. When there are hardships and difficulties, when we encounter a huge storm that we cannot really solve on our own, that is when we kneel before God.
Therefore, the storm coming into our lives can be seen as a wave that God sends to us. There is nothing that humans can do in the vast ocean where there is a huge storm. I just hope and pray that the storm will calm down.
If it is God who sends the storm (verse 25), then it is God who will calm the storm (verses 28-29).
Are you experiencing a huge storm right now?
Before complaining about why only I am suffering, think of it as a temporary 'wave' sent by God to allow you to experience a special work and special grace, and entrust your everything to the wave. I hope you will become closer to God through that work.
Then, God will surely calm the storm and calm the waves in His time (verse 29).
You will not be able to enjoy the strong waves (hardships) approaching in your life.
However, you can surrender your body to the waves.
Don't be anxious, don't worry, just leave the matter to God.
