To be a blessed person (Psalm 1:1-6)
The verse of Psalm 1 we read today is the word of God that reveals to us the secret of blessing and curse. In English, this verse starts with ‘blessed’ and ends with ‘perish’. It starts with ‘blessed one’ and ends with ‘perish’. Those who keep the word of God in their hearts and live according to it will be blessed, but those who follow the counsel of the wicked and stand in the way of sinners and sit in the seat of scorners will perish. What path are you following now? Our God wants us all to be blessed. In verse 1, it says “blessed are the people”, so let's look at what kind of blessing God really plans to give to our members through our words.
Looking at the words of verse 1, we are not talking about the blessings that those who will receive will receive first, but rather the path that those who will receive will have to avoid. According to these words, we can discover that there are three ways for those who perish.
First, the way to perish is to follow the counsel of the wicked. The schemes of the wicked are the plans of the wicked. In a word, it is the wisdom of rolling your head. It's flimsy wisdom. To put it a little better, it can be said that it is a cheo-seul. Such wisdom has no consideration for others and is full of greed to satisfy one's own desires. It's just an evil idea that makes you turn away from the right path and the right path for your own happiness and lean toward the path of sin. Also, when a problem arises, they seek out philosophers, shamans, or fortune tellers, or seek advice from experts in that field. But today's sermon is clear. “Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked.” That's right. It is the fact that the blessed person first listens to the word of God.
The third way to perish is to sit in the seat of the arrogant. "The arrogant" is one who does not humbly accept the Word of God. not obeying the voice of God. Arrogant people are those who do not fear God, do not obey God's laws and regulations, and do not listen at all to the words of God's servants. Their great characteristic is that they criticize, criticize, and attack others. Also arrogant. No manners. why? Because you don't fear God. Such a person does not respect the views of others at all. only you know yourself. However, blessed people realize that God is love, and always consider, embrace, cover, forgive, and bless others. Dear brothers and sisters, please remember that the path of love is the path of blessing, but the path of accusing and accusing people without love is the path of ruin.
Next, verse 2 talks about the secret of being blessed. “But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.” To enjoy God's law, to meditate on God's Word and to engrave its meaning in our hearts, and to act according to God's written word in our hearts are the keys to unlocking the door of blessing. We often say, “A person who meditates on the word of God day and night is like a tree planted by a stream.” Why? If you plant a tree by a stream, it may not seem to grow at first, but eventually it will grow. Meditation is like this.
Dear brothers and sisters, remember that a life without the Word is on the path of destruction, and by meditating on the Word of God day and night, I pray in the name of the Lord that you will have a blessed life as you bear abundant fruit of blessing like a tree planted by a stream. do.
