Title: To Believe in Jesus
Contents What does it mean to believe in Jesus? It is to be like Jesus. It is to follow what Jesus did when he came into this world. is to do that. The words of (John 6:28-29) show the relationship between God's work and faith. "They asked, "What must we do to do the works of God?" Jesus answered and said, "It is the work of God to believe in him whom God has sent." God's work and faith are the same thing. Believers do the work of God. Those who do not believe do not do God's work. The Bible says that faith without works is dead.
We sincerely welcome new families who have joined our church to live a life of faith. Faith is accepting Jesus as Lord. It is believing that Jesus came into this world, worked, and died for us. So, of course, you have to be like him. Specifically, what does it mean to believe in Jesus?
is to throw it away.
You have to throw it away to get it. This is the most basic truth of Christianity. You have to let go of the old ones. Old thoughts, old thoughts, old habits, old knowledge, old evil deeds… Anything that interferes with our religious life must be boldly thrown away. (Ephesians 4:22-24) "Put off the old man, which is corrupt according to the lusts of deceit, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new man, which after God was created in righteousness and holiness of truth." How boldly and how thoroughly you throw away the old are the keys to good faith.
Dear saints, Dare to throw away the wrong things of the past. Don't be remorseful. Even if it gave you temporary happiness, if it is something God hates, throw it away. Most saints do not pass at this gate. A good example is found in Matthew 19. A rich young man comes to Jesus and asks how he can get eternal life. Jesus told us to keep the commandments, and the young man said they kept everything. Again, Jesus tells them to take an offering and give it to the poor and follow him. However, the young man cannot follow this passage.
The opposite story is an example of Abram. He obeys God's command to leave the homeland of his relatives, his father's house, even though he does not know where he is going. He threw away a lot. Abandoned paddy fields. I cut ties with relatives. abandoned the veil. I left my neighbors. It can be said that everything has been thrown away. Because of that, he was able to become the father of the nations, Abraham. It could be a source of blessing.
As such, most people hesitate at the point of throwing it away. But if you don't really know how to give up, you can't really gain. Faith starts with letting go. The life of Jesus was a life of abandonment. Saints! Don't hesitate to throw it away.
is to give.
Faith is giving beyond the level of giving up and giving up. A believer is a person who worships. No matter how good the faith is, those who do not worship are not believers. Even if you are worshiping, if you do a service that the Lord does not accept, that is not the appearance of a believer. Both Cain and Abel worshiped (sacrifices). But one person got up the worship service, and the other person didn't. Why? It is not a matter of sacrifice, it is a matter of people. Worship with dedication is true worship.
What is worship? (Romans 12:1) “Therefore, brethren, I beseech you by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” Yes, body offering is worship. So, worship is the act of giving something more than what is offered during worship. During the worship service, we sing praises, pray, give offerings, and serve.
After worship, you give your body. This is called dedication. That is, a person who is good at devotion is a person who is good at living a life of faith. A person who works for God outside of worship time is a believer. A good believer is not bound by the time of worship. Worship transcends time.
The poor widow gave two lepts. Mary Magdalene broke a jar of perfumed oil. The apostles gave their lives to the Lord. Among Paul's co-workers, he said that he was ready to pluck out even an eye. Jesus gave his whole body for us by throwing it on the cross. Dear saints, What did you give? What do you give? What will you give me?
It is obedience.
In the Old Testament, there is no particular word for [faith]. There is only the word [obedience]. It means that faith is obedience. (1 Samuel 15:22) "Does the Lord take delight in burnt offerings and other sacrifices, as the obedience of his voice? The sacrifice offered by the disobedient is not what the Lord wants. No matter how wonderfully you worship, if you do not obey, you will not be considered a believer. There is nothing more beautiful than purebred. God's work was accomplished by obedient servants of the Lord.
Abraham, who is called the father of faith, also showed that faith through obedience. (Gen 26:3-5) "I will fulfill the oath I swore to your father Abraham, and I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky, and I will give all these lands to your descendants, and in your descendants all peoples under the earth will be blessed. because they obeyed my words and kept my commands, my commandments, my statutes, and my ordinances.”
Abraham is a man of obedience. That obedience made him a source of blessing. But Abraham's attitude of obedience without doubt was considered righteous (Romans 4:22). (Romans 3:22), it becomes clear. “That is, the righteousness of God that is to everyone who believes through faith in Jesus Christ, without distinction.” Only through faith can we be justified. Abraham's faith was shown to be obedience to the word of the Lord. So he was justified. I have been saved.
Dear saints,
With the Christmas season just around the corner, it's meaningful to look at what faith is. There are many times when we say we believe in Jesus, but we don't know exactly what to do with it. Faith is not an idea or an idea. Faith is letting go of past mistakes. It is about giving up bad habits. It's about letting go of the old. Dare to throw it away.
Faith is also giving. You must be able to devote the most precious things to the Lord. You must devote your whole body to the Lord. At a time when the whole world is buzzing about the arrival of the baby Jesus, are we not the same people who can't even give you a room for a baby to sleep in?
Faith is obedience. It is obedience to the Lord no matter how difficult or difficult it is. What the Lord wants is not the time of worship, He wants us to obey His word outside of the time of worship.
Dear saints,
let's throw it away let's give Let's obey Hallelujah!
