Title: To compel people / Luke 14:15-24
Compel them to take them and fill my house (Luke 14:15-24)
The 2004 motto of our Geumcheon Yangmun Church is “Go out and compel people to take you and fill my house” in verse 23.
Five years ago, God loved our church and allowed 1200 seats for this large temple, but we have not yet filled it.
In 2003, I grew a lot spiritually, matured qualitatively, and revitalized in quantity.
Now that everything has stabilized and I am exhausted, all I have to do is go out and force people to take them and fill my father's house.
In 2004, the mission of filling the father's house should be given priority over any other mission.
Looking at the text,
1. God gave a great feast of salvation.
In verse 16, “a man was preparing a great banquet” means that God made a banquet of salvation.
The feast of salvation given by God is a great feast because it is a global feast in scale and a feast that gives eternal life in content.
There is no feast greater and more precious than the feast of salvation that God has given.
Blessed are those who participate in this feast.
Verse 15 says, “Blessed are those who eat bread in the kingdom of God.”
2. God invited many people.
Verse 16 says, “We invited many people.”
God has invited many people in the world, regardless of nationality, race, gender, educational background, material, person, health, old or young, or anything else.
And in each age, He was called through prophets and through pastors and evangelists.
God has called us in the past and continues to call us today.
If you obey the call and attend God's feast, all your sins will be forgiven, you will receive salvation, and you will receive great blessings. We are all blessed ones.
3. Many foolish people have rejected God's invitation.
In verses 18-20, each of the three types of people rejected God's invitation with excuses.
1) I bought a field, so I can't attend because I have to go out and see it (18)
In the modern sense, it means that you cannot attend due to work or business.
2) I bought five yoke of oxen, so I cannot attend because I am going to the test (19).
In the modern sense, it means that those in power or honor cannot attend because of management or maintenance.
3) I am married and cannot attend (20)
In modern terms, this means that you cannot attend because of your leisure, hobbies, or play.
The three excuses in the text are excuses that apply to anyone and are just meaningless excuses.
How many people today refuse to attend church with ridiculous excuses?
Dear brothers and sisters, there are no excuses in the sight of God, only obedience is recognized, and only obedience is a blessing.
4. God commanded us to fill the feast.
In verse 21, “The owner of the house became angry and commanded his servant to go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the city and bring the poor, the sick, the blind and the lame.”
The servants went out and took the marginalized and filled the feast, but there were empty seats.
Here, servants are the servants of God, and the sick, the blind, the lame, and the poor are those who are neglected, oppressed, forsaken, and marginalized.
All human beings have the same personality and have one soul, and there are thousands of things that are more precious than the world.
Therefore, all the people we meet should be invited to the feast of salvation and are the target of evangelism (invitation).
All unbelievers and members of other religions are also targets of evangelism.
Knowing that the feast was vacant, God commanded the servant, “Go out into the road and along the hillside, and compel people to take you and fill my house” (23).
This is a message to go to a road where many people come and go and a mountain where many people raise sheep, and strongly persuade and fill the feast.
This is not to say only good things, but to speak strongly, and not to recommend only once or twice, but persistently and persuade them to fill the feast.
conclusion
1. Dear saints, God prepared a heavenly feast in Geumcheon Yangmun Church and invited many people.
2. That God filled the place through several servants.
3. However, there are still seats available. Even this morning, God commands us to fill this void.
4. There are many things God has to do, but more than anything else, evangelism and filling the void is the most precious and pleasing to God. He also rewards and blesses those who fill the void.
Dear brothers and sisters, first of all, I pray that you will give birth to a new believer in our hearts and give all the fruits of the soul to our Father by giving them water of prayer, water of love, and water of concern so that they can grow.
The master said to the servant, Go out into the road and by the hills, and compel the man to take him and fill my house.
