To reveal God's will (Philippians 2:12-16)
There are three tenses of salvation (John 5:25).
Salvation has three tenses: regenerate, sanctify, and glorify. In verse 12, “work out your salvation,” the believers are confused. The King James version has been translated as "work out your own salvation".
1. We must have a desire that pleases God (verse 13).
(1) It is not me who reveals salvation, but God who works in Christians.
(2) Therefore, the life that pleases God is to have the desire of the Lord in your heart.
⑶ Among the characters in the Bible, God first made them have the desire that pleases God. From then on, he made me work hard to make that wish come true. Then, the wish was finally fulfilled.
2. We must show ourselves as children of light to the world (verses 14-15).
(1) Christians must carry out the mission of light to illuminate the darkness.
(2) In order to appear as children of lights in this world, one must be without blemish and pure.
3. We must testify to the word of life (v. 16a).
(1) ‘Explaining the word of life’ means ‘firming the gospel and bearing witness to it’.
(2) What are your thoughts on the earthquake and nuclear accident in Japan?
4. Let there be something to boast about on the day of Christ (v. 16b)
(1) Revealing the word of life is to receive a crown of pride before God.
(2) The Apostle Paul endeavored to testify of God's word to the Galatians.
It is God's will that all people believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior and be saved.
To this end, we too must have a wish for the salvation of mankind. In order to do that, we ourselves must live a holy life. We must represent ourselves as children of light. The world is a messed up generation. Therefore, we must testify to the word of life so that we can believe the gospel. This is the pride of standing before the Lord (1 Thessalonians 2:19,20).
