Title: Travel Lightly / Mark 6:7-11

Travel in light clothes / Mark 6:7-11

Travel lightly.   In the words of the way of humility, today we are talking about wealth. As we live in the world, we need material things. However, in today's verse, we are told to take a walking stick and travel with only one set of clothes on. Does Jesus mean that those who follow me follow me without possession? If not, how much can you own?

I. You are giving a warning about bathing in water.

There are many verses in the Bible that speak positively about wealth. On the other hand, there is also a section that gives a very frightening warning when it comes to possession of wealth. Then, one is said to be a blessing and the other is said to be dangerous. What does that mean? The Bible points out that there is a problem with our attitude toward material things. In other words, a person who does not have a proper view of material things does not have the right to possess them, but rather having them will cause difficulties. The Bible also says that possessions are acknowledged, but not given to accumulate possessions. It is said that human desires are endless. There is no way to continue to satisfy human greed. It is today's Word that warns against that greed. He is telling us to cast away this evil because we should not be shaken in our faith in God or in our love and service.

II. Everything given to us comes from God.

Today everything comes from God. That is why we say that there is nothing we have not received. All that we have been given comes from God, and we have nothing to give up; we should be thankful for everything. The Greeks are dualistic. Dualism refers to a world divided into two from the beginning: where there is light, there is darkness, and when there is the spirit world, there is the material world, but the Bible does not say that. In the Bible, the spirit is given by God, and the material is also given by God, so we should know this and be thankful. All of these things are given by God, so we will have to use them according to God's will. God wants us to use it equally. The life God wants is not to use it all because I have a lot, but to give it to those who don't have it and to help those who don't have a lot to those who have it.

. So, how should we Christians view wealth?

*Conclusions are given.

Many people today struggle to accumulate wealth. That is why they lose their freedom in front of that material.  The true disciple of Christ will know the truth, and you will be free. But, like Abraham, we will have to give it back to God, remembering that it was given by God. In the name of God, I pray that you will become children who can take the journey of life lightly and leave everything to God with an easy mind, without clinging and crying while holding onto what is mine.
