Title: Treat yourself first / Matthew 7:7-12
Content: Treat yourself first / Matthew 7:7-12
Key Verse: “Therefore, whatever you would like others to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets” (verse 12).
Word: Have you ever heard of the golden rule? The Golden Rule is “words of gold that are profound and useful to life.” The words of this text are called the golden rule in Christianity. “Whatever you would like others to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”
This statement first applies to human relationships. This was before Heo Jun became famous in his name. One day, a shabby old man sat down in the corner of a pharmacy saying he was going to meet someone. It was a cramped pharmacy, but Heo Jun did not show any dislike at all. But after three days, the old man does not intend to go. Meanwhile, Heo Jun treated the old man with sincerity. Then an urgent patient came. When Heo Jun, who was embarrassed, couldn't prescribe, the old man who saw it made a medicine to treat the patient. The old man is the name of the time, but he met Heo Jun while he was looking for someone to pass on his medical skills.
We too must love first, serve first, and give first. When you treat yourself first, you will be successful in human relationships, and you will receive blessings from that relationship. Remember. “God always blesses through people.”
The text also applies to our relationship with God. Prayer is treating God as God. There is nothing that treats God as God as much as prayer. Just as the greatest filial piety to parents is to greet, talk, and discuss often, God wants to talk to our children more than anything else. That is why Jesus powerfully asks us to pray as children of God.
“Ask,” “Seek,” “Knock at the door.” These are the three stages of prayer. “Ask”, is to confess our wishes to God in detail (James 4:3). “Find”, as we prayed, now we move our bodies and do it. It is prayer in action. “Knock,” is to pray patiently until you receive an answer. Praying until it comes true. Just as Jacob wrestled with an angel at the river Jabbok and received an answer, he prays with patience. As you seek, seek, and knock in this way, you are preparing a vessel that will receive the blessings of heaven. There is a saying. “Prayer often changes circumstances, but rather changes the mind of the person praying.”
When we acknowledge God as God, God always treats us with good things (verse 11). Do you really want to be treated? Treat yourself first. Above all else, pray.
Prayer: Help me to follow the Lord who set the example of service, and above all, help me become a blessed child who treats Heavenly Father through prayer. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
