Title: trespassing / Leviticus 5:14-19

Contents

Whereas the sin offering is a sacrifice to solve the problem of sin arising from our relationship with God, the trespass offering is a sacrifice to solve the problem of sins committed between humans.

All human sin is ultimately a crime before God, but it deals with the problem of sin that is being made in our relationship with others.

-Characteristics of quick-drying agent-

1) A trespass offering is a sacrifice for a personal crime.

There is a marked difference between the sin offering and the trespass offering, which is that the trespass offering requires compensation. Achan has sinned. Achan thought it was a sin known only to him, but in reality, God knew it. It's easy to think that we are our own sin. It is a fact that we must solve this before God and move on.

2) It is a sin against the sin of contact with an unclean thing.

The trespass offering deals with the sin of contact or relationship with unclean things (read 5:2,3). This probably has some sanitary truth. Because of its contagious nature, it was decided not to touch anything unclean. But when it applies to us, it is very important to set us apart from situations or events that can corrupt us today.

Because crime comes from contact with everything God forbids and unclean things. For example, it is difficult if you follow friends to a bar and try not to drink alcohol. You have to change the surrounding environment or situation and avoid it. How can you protect yourself by creating such an environment? Eve is having a conversation with the snake. It may be said that even having a conversation is bad, but you should have been decisive when things got better with good and evil.

3) It is a sacrifice for the sin of not doing what should be done.

It points to the problem of not keeping promises, and the sin of not living up to an oath. Those are of course things to watch out for. It is also a sin to fail to do these things that we must observe. (Leviticus 5:4)

A lot of times we don't even care about promises or oaths, or feel a little sorry for them. Even if we take an oath by someone else, we think of it as an oath, but remember that even if we swear by ourselves, it is an oath to God, so we must put it into practice.

4) It is a sacrifice for the sin of mishandling the holy things of God. (Leviticus 5:15-16)

This is telling us how carefully we should handle the things of God. All of our possessions are entrusted to us by God. Strictly speaking, it cannot be claimed as mine. However, it is not right to think of God's things as if they are mine and to be kind to the poor when giving them to God. And that is also called a sin.

5) It is a crime against other people's things. (6:2,3) You must not do pawnshop work.

6) It is a sacrifice for sins committed unintentionally. Even if we commit a sin without realizing it, it becomes a sin.(5:17,18)

Sometimes we need this kind of prayer when we pray. 'God, if I have committed a sin at a moment I am unaware of, please remind me and forgive me.' Then, He will enlighten you and allow you to continue your gracious relationship with God.

When we commit a sin, we must solve the sin and move on. Only by resolving this can we have a relationship with God and live in grace.

1) You must confess. 5:5

2) You must compensate.5:16

You see Zacchaeus' repentance, and you can see that he repented thoroughly. The fact that he gave half of his possessions to the poor and said that he would pay it back four times reveals the decisive side of his new start. We must confess our sins and turn from them, relying on the merits of Christ's cross. And don't give up your rewarding attitude. Although we are confessing to God, we feel that it is too light to simply say with our lips. Even if you can't do it like Zacchaeus, such an attitude of determination tests one's will and looks very beautiful to God. So, I ask that you always have a relationship with a beautiful God. Amen
