Title: True Disciple
John 8:29-32 ‘29. The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, because I always do what pleases him. 30 When he had said this, many believed. If you abide in the word, you are truly my disciples, 32. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free' - Amen.
Verse 31 says, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples.” Therefore, it means that there are true disciples and there are false disciples, such as Judas. What kind of disciple would the <true disciple> be?
1. Those who abide by the word of God
Ancient Greek philosophers and Jewish teachers carried a group of disciples. Therefore, the life Jesus lived with his disciples was natural. Even in the Spring and Autumn Warring States Period, the teachers and pupils lived and flocked together. In the Bible, the word disciple (he, dymil T') has its roots in the words learn and tame, meaning that in order to become a true disciple of Jesus, we must learn the teachings of Jesus and be tamed by Jesus.
2. Those who have true freedom
The Son of God came into the world to set us free from the bondage of sin and Satan. It is humanly understandable that people suffer from depression even if they believe in Jesus, but we must restore by faith in Jesus who came to solve such problems. The meaning of freedom in the Bible does not mean to be freed from political or physical incompetence, but fundamentally, it means freedom of the soul. 2 Corinthians 3:17 “The Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom”
Freedom through Christ, the meaning of freedom, is to be forgiven of sin, to be freed from the pain of sin, and to enjoy the freedom of joy that springs from the heart. It's like a prisoner who has been imprisoned for a long time and then comes out and finds freedom in the sun. In the text, John 8:32 says, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” But the problem is that you do not have this freedom of joy in Christ Jesus.
Here are some suggestions for becoming a true disciple and a man of true freedom.
1) Please take time to yearn for the Bible.
2) Set a regular prayer time and pray ignorantly
3) Please be faithful to worship
4) You must lead a healthy life with respect to culture
5) Volunteer life should always be a part of life
6) Must have an evangelistic life
A true disciple is not the tradition or family line of the Jews in Jesus' day. However, even the office we have in the church has nothing to do with our authority as true people of God and disciples of Christ. A true disciple is a person who builds himself up in the truth and lives by realizing true spiritual freedom. Discipleship does not come from theology or education of any particular movement. In the end, you can find yourself in the truth and live in the truth, become true disciples, and enjoy the grace of true freedom.
