Title: True Encounter / 1 Samuel 18:1-5

Content People live in a series of encounters throughout their lives. Growing up from meeting with mother at birth, there are meetings with friends and teachers at school other than family, as well as meetings at work and church members. In this endless series of encounters, our love is budding. A fleeting encounter, an accidental meeting, and sometimes such an encounter becomes the deep and true encounter of a lifetime. You can find in the text how this sincere meeting develops into love. Then, what kind of encounter is a true encounter and what kind of love it develops through the words of the text.

1. It is a meeting that connects hearts.

A meeting between mind and heart is an encounter where we care for and understand each other. So, this meeting is a meeting that you will always miss if you are away even for a moment. Only these encounters can be deep and true encounters, and only these encounters can enrich your life. Especially in the text, David and Jonathan's hearts were connected because they felt the love for God that had been planted in each other. That is, the same faith in God became the root for them to form eternal love. When Peter, who denied not knowing Jesus three times, met the eyes of Jesus Christ full of love and compassion, his heart and heart were in contact and wept bitterly. Saints! As in today's text, please look back to see if I have had a meeting like David and Jonathan. We can have this kind of heart-to-heart meeting with our neighbors. If we have found Jesus Christ in each other's hearts, our true encounter has begun.

2. You will love as your own life.

3. It is eternal love that is confirmed by the covenant.

Jonathan loved David as his own life and made a covenant with him. “(1 Samuel 18:3) Jonathan loved David as his own life, and made a covenant with him.” The two promised to keep each other loyal and love each other under any circumstances. got a weapon. In doing so, their Sara, their meeting, was so bound and immortal. “: (Matthew 24:12) Even when the love of many people grows cold due to the increase of iniquity,” those who met with the same faith and love for God become closer and closer, and because of the holy covenant, they can share their hearts and minds there is. Therefore, we, who have been promised citizenship in the kingdom of heaven, are fulfilling the eternal love between brothers and sisters through that covenant.

A friend's faithful counsel is beautiful, "(Proverbs 27:9) Oil and incense rejoice in the heart, so are the faithful counsel of a friend." It is an encounter with “(Proverbs 17:17) A friend loves unconditionally, and a brother is born for a time of peril.” Through heart-to-heart meeting, they came to truly love in God. Brothers and sisters, let's not say that we love other people, but in reality, not worldly love for our own interests, but a love that enriches our lives with comfort and peace through the exchange of love with God. So let's continue the love of the saints with the unchanging love of God.
