Title: True Free Man (John 08:31-36)
The book "I'm ok-Youre ok!", written by American psychiatrist Dr. Thomas A. Harris, shocked America and changed the lives of millions of people. The outline of the book is that in every individual there is a parent, an adult, and a child. And only when we are freed from these parents, adults and children can we become truly free people. But the truly free man is not alone.
1. Freedom from covetousness God pointed out that covetousness is idolatry, and what God hates the most is idolatry.1) The reason for the fall of Adam and Eve was covetousness.
2) The rich young man and covetousness When the rich young man asked Jesus how to obtain salvation (Matthew 19:16), Jesus saw that he was trying to serve Jesus with money because he had a lot of money. he returned from covetousness
2. Freedom from the habit of sin1) The forgiveness of the blood (1) Those who neglect worship: Spending Sundays by fishing and hiking.
(2) Those who believe in gambling, drinking, sexual immorality, and living 2) The trenches of sinful habits must be destroyed (Romans 7:25).
(1) Do not justify sin.
(2) We must admit that sin is the devil (1 John 3:8).
3. Freedom from life's anxiety and fear1) The experience of Elisha (inner man) and Gehazi (outer man) (2 Kings 6:8-19).
Elisha and Gehazi symbolically speak of our 'inner man' and 'outer man'. Our inner man, Elisha, enjoys the word of God. However, the outer man, Gehazi, only sees the environment and says, 'We are dead'.
2) When we trust in the love of Christ and experience the filling of the Holy Spirit, we can overcome all these things.
4. Freedom from death - Death is the greatest fear and despair of human beings.1) When life is more painful than death, he commits suicide.
2) There is no real freedom without freedom from death and emptiness.
3) There is no basis for assurance except the death and resurrection of Christ (Conclusion): Only those who have attained inner freedom in Christ can enjoy a true life in the family and society. I hope that all of you will enjoy true freedom through meeting Jesus Christ, who sets us free.
