Title: Trumpet disaster

2012. 10. 28 Sunday morning worship service

Bible: Revelation 8:1-13

Title: Trumpet disaster

Revelation 8:1-13 ‘1. When the seventh seal was opened, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. 2. I saw seven angels standing before God, receiving seven trumpets, 3. ...and taking a golden censer, and receiving much incense, because of the prayers of all the saints and to offer them together on the golden altar before the throne...

7. The first angel blew his trumpet, and hail and fire mixed with blood came out and poured out on the earth, and a third of the earth was burned up, and a third of the trees were burned up, and every green grass was burned up.

8. The second angel blew his trumpet, and something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood, 9. A third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were broken.

10. The third angel blew his trumpet, and a great star, burning like a torch, fell from the sky... and a third of the water turned into bitter wormwood, and the water became bitter water, and many died.

12. And the fourth angel blew his trumpet, and a third of the sun, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars... and there was no light, and so was the night. For the sound of the trumpet to be sounded remains.' - Amen.

In the Book of Revelation, there are 3 types of plagues, 7 trumpets, 7 trumpets, and 7 bowls, and it is foretold that the disasters will gradually intensify. In this chapter, the plagues of the 7 trumpets were seen in the 7th maniac. Revelation 8:5 “The angel took the censer, and filled the altar with fire, and poured it out on the earth, and there were thunders and voices and lightnings and an earthquake.” But at the beginning of Revelation 8:1, “When the seventh seal was opened, the sky was still for about half an hour. ' and said. When the sky was quiet for half an hour, it was meant to be a very terrifying catastrophe, like the eve of a storm.

Let's take a look at the 4 <Trumpet Disasters>.

1. The first trumpet: a plague of burning trees and grass

Symbolism is the most prominent interpretation method in interpreting the Book of Revelation, and there are many people who personify stars and trees as people. However, the names of nature appearing in the text should be interpreted literally.

Revelation 8:7 “The first angel sounded his trumpet, and hail and fire mixed with blood came out and poured out on the earth, and a third of the earth was burned up, and a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up.”

A hole in the ozone layer has caused trees to burn all over the earth even now.

2. Second trumpet: disaster on sea water and sea creatures ships

A catastrophe to nature follows one after another.

Text Revelation 8:8,9 ‘8. The second angel blew his trumpet, and something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood, 9. A third of all living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were broken.

3. Third trumpet: A disaster that consumes ⅓ of the spring water and causes people to drink and die.

Only Jesus is the water of eternal life that will keep you thirsty forever.

John 6:35 "Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst."

4. Fourth trumpet: A disaster in which ⅓ of the Sun, Moon and Seongjin will not shine

It is the last day when the Creator of all things will judge all things. It is a judgment in which the sun, moon, and stars are weakened. Life is not grateful for the nature that we receive every day, and on that day, we will not be able to receive even the sunlight we receive every day.

Text Revelation 8:12 ‘12. And the fourth angel blew his trumpet, and a third of the sun, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars were struck, and a third of it was darkened, and a third of the day had no light, and so was the night.”

When the plagues came down on Egypt, there was darkness.

Even when Jesus was crucified, Luke 23:44 “It was about the sixth hour, and the sun had lost its light, and darkness fell over all the earth, and it continued until the ninth hour.”

Matthew 24:29 “In that day, after the tribulation, immediately the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

And at the end of the text, Revelation 8:13 ‘…the eagle flying in mid-air said with a loud voice, “Woe, woe, woe to those who dwell on the earth, for there is still the sound of the trumpets for the three angels to blow.”

There are 7 plagues of trumpets in the 7th maniac. In this chapter, there were 4, and the remaining 3 trumpet plagues, namely the 5th, 6th, and 7th plagues, will follow. What the eagle said when it flew means that a terrible judgment will come quickly.

Matthew 24:31 “He will send his angels with a loud trumpet, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”

1 Corinthians 15:51 “Behold, I tell you a mystery, that we will not all sleep, but at the last trumpet we will all be changed in an instant.”

In the Old Testament times, the trumpet was blown when there was a warning of war or a major national decree to inform the people. The sound of the trumpet in this chapter is a proclamation of disaster that heralds the final great tribulation. We believe that we should be able to listen to God's thunder and hear the voice of salvation while we live in these last days.
