Title: Trust in the Lord / 115:9-11

Content [sermon]

Japan's "Leisure Development Center" conducted a statistical survey on people's mental life, and among the questions asked, "What do you mean mentally?

Do you think I am underground?” Of those who answered, 52% relied on their own philosophy of life.

29% depend on a company or job. 9% said they depend on their family and only 6% said they depend on their religion.

If you were asked this question, how would you answer it? It is a great thing that a person has something to depend on in his life.

It is comfort and strength. But if you depend on something you shouldn't rely on, you'll be in trouble, you'll be in trouble, and even stone.

It leads to serious and unacceptable misfortune.

Today, we will look at what we should not depend on, and then we will look at the right posture to depend on God.

All.

First, let's figure out what we shouldn't rely on. The Bible states what we should not rely on

I did.

First, he was told not to rely on idols. Psalm 115:4-8 says, "Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's work.

They have mouths, but cannot speak; They have eyes, but cannot see; They have ears, but do not hear; They have noses, but cannot smell; They have hands;

They cannot touch them, they have feet, but they cannot walk, and their throats cannot make a sound. Those who make idols and those who rely on them.

All shall be like him.” As idols do not see, hear, speak, or do anything, so those who trust in idols

They cannot see or hear the spiritual things that God has prepared for those he loves. Give thanks and praise to God

They cannot do anything that pleases God. Therefore, no one is more miserable than the one who trusts in idols.

All.

Second, he told them not to depend on their own righteousness. Romans 10:1-3 says, “Brethren, my heart’s desire and God

It is for Israel's sake that they seek salvation, for I testify that they are zealous for God.

I did not follow knowledge; I did not know the righteousness of God, and tried to establish my own, and did not submit to the righteousness of God.”

I did. The righteousness of God has been revealed in Christ Jesus. A person is not justified by works

Therefore, what God did that man could not do is that He sent His only begotten Son to pay for our sins on the cross

He made atonement for us by the shedding of His precious blood. Anyone who believes in Jesus Christ will receive the righteousness of God

You will receive it as a gift and grace. But those who seek to come before God with their own righteousness will never stand before God.

There is not.

Third, we were told not to depend on wealth. Psalm 49:6-10 says, “Those who trust in their riches and take pride in their abundance

No one can by any means redeem his brother, nor offer a ransom to God for him, because the redemption of their life is

For he is too precious and will never last; he will live forever, so that he will not see corruption; he will see, even the wise will die.

Foolish and ignorant people also perish and leave their wealth to others."

can't solve it. This does not mean that we should despise wealth. Wealth is a very useful thing. the riches

The body is neither evil nor good. However, what matters is how you earn money and for what purpose you use it. material omnipotence

Those who are careful and depend more on wealth than on God are foolish and pitiful. A fool sleeps with wealth

They regard God as a great being, and their heart becomes hardened, and they do not listen to the truth.

Fourth, we were told not to depend on people. Psalm 146:3,4 says, “Do not depend on princes, nor do those who do not have the strength to help.

Do not rely on it, for when its breath is cut off, it will return to the dust, and in that day it will perish.

It is a desirable human society. People must depend on each other and live as a will. rely on people here

Not to do it means to be a factor that distances you from relying on God.

Fifth, he told them not to rely on their own understanding. Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and

Do not rely on iron.” How much can a person know just because he has knowledge?

If only he could know, he would prevent all danger, and he could take all the riches of the world. But

The truth is that people cannot foresee even an inch ahead. Anything that makes us depend on God

It is beneficial, but it is useless and harmful to prevent or distance us from reliance on God.

Next, let's find out about the right attitude to depend on God. This can be said to be the characteristic of those who depend on God.

I did.

First, those who depend on God hold on to the word God has commanded and promised. God's Word is our happiness

commands and promises for Therefore, the concrete action to depend on God is to hold on to the Word of God.

The Apostle Paul was rescued from near death by a mob in Jerusalem and was taken to Caesarea. there

was tried on the charges of the Jews, but two years passed without a verdict. Paul appeals to the Roman emperor

He was led by a Roman centurion to Rome. Due to the bad weather on the boat Paul was on, it was said that the sea port of Crete was

anchored there. When they tried to set sail again, Paul stopped them. However, the captain or the shipowner will be in this port during the winter

I told him to leave here because it was uncomfortable to stay with. The centurion believed the captain and the shipowner's words more than Paul's and set sail

allowed. As the sails were raised, a gentle south wind began to blow. But soon after, a storm called Euragulo began to blow.

I did. The ship could not be steered. For many days the sun and the stars were not seen, and there was a great storm.

The net is all gone. Now everyone is exhausted and in despair.

Then Paul stood among them and said, “I beseech you, take it easy now. There will be no damage to the lives of you.

No, there will be only ships. An angel of the God whom I belong to, whom I serve, stood by me last night and said, 'Paul, do not be afraid.

wow don't You must stand before Caesar, and God has given you all who sail with you.' did so

So, all of you, take it easy, I trust God that it will be just as he said to me."

Holding on to the word of God is the right attitude to depend on God.

Second, those who depend on God pray to God in everything. The habit of praying to God in everything is the best habit

is. It is worthwhile to work hard until these habits are formed. Relying on God and praying to God

It cannot be separated. Prayer is to show that you cannot live a saintly life without relying on God.

It is an act of acknowledging God in all things. Proverbs 3:5, 6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and put your understanding in

Do not be deceived; acknowledge him in all things, and he will direct your way."

Third, those who depend on God act boldly and positively. Whatever we do, do it justly and honestly

There is absolutely no reason to be afraid or to hesitate. A righteous and true God is with us. God

A person to rely on must be bold and proactive, not afraid of adversaries or obstacles. In Psalm 18:29, “My

I trust in You, I run against the enemy, I trust in my God, and I jump over walls.”

Fourth, leave it to God and wait. Those who depend on God hold on to the word of God and pray to God always.

After doing everything boldly and positively, leave the results to God and wait with an open mind.

The God we depend on is omnipotent. His mercy is great and His truth is everlasting. Therefore, anxious and concerned

No need. God always guides those who depend on him to the best path.

“Trust in the LORD, O Israel; he is your help and your shield. House of Aaron, trust in the LORD; he is your help.

A help and your shield. You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD; he is your help and your shield."

(Psalm 115:9-11) By repeating the words “Trust in the LORD, he is your help and your shield” three times.

It was over-emphasized. May these emphasized words be fully practiced and experienced throughout your life.

Bless you in the name of Jesus Christ.
