Today, we will share grace with the title of “Light a lamp”, focusing on the words of Leviticus 24:1 4.
After the Israelites left Egypt, they encamped on Mount Sinai.
At that time, God commanded the Israelites to build the tabernacle through Moses. When the tabernacle was built, He revealed in detail the height and width of the tabernacle, its structure, equipment, and even the sacrificial system.
The tabernacle was largely divided into two parts.
One is the Holy of Holies and the other is the Holy of Holies. Among them, the altar of incense, the showbread and the lighthouse were to be built in the sanctuary.
Today's text tells us to anoint the lighthouse in the sanctuary and light it.
He also tells us to use olive oil for the oil used for the lampstand, to keep the lamp from going out, and to take good care of the lamp. All these words were spoken by Jehovah.
According to the text of the text, 'The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,'
Therefore, since 'Jehovah' has spoken, it is an immutable truth that must be done and an unchanging word that must be put into practice.
First of all, in the first half of verse 2, it says, 'I commanded the children of Israel to bring them to me for burning with pure oil from crushed olives'.
The command is to bring olive oil and light the lamps of the sanctuary here.
Here, 'olive' refers to the fruit of the olive tree.
The olive tree is the symbol of Israel.
It grows up to 40m and produces olive fruits the size of an apricot or plum in Korea.
One olive tree usually bears about 120 kg of olive fruits.
There are two main types of olive fruit: one is for eating the fruit, and the other is for squeezing oil from the seeds in the fruit.
The oil I use here is used for food, medicine, and kerosene.
In today's text, when lighting the lamps of the sanctuary, we were told to light the lamps of the sanctuary with the oil extracted from the seeds of olives.
However, the word that draws attention in the text is the word 'the crushed olives'.
Here, the word 'jjjieo' means 'to combine tightly'.
How can I tightly bind the seeds of the olive tree?
The seeds must be crushed, broken, and crushed to form a tight bond. And when you squeeze it, the oil comes out. And light the fire with that oil.
what do you mean?
In order for the saints to light a lamp in the temple to shine, they must break, crush, crush, and squeeze themselves to become a lamp that brightly illuminates the temple. If the seeds of the olive fruit remain intact, no oil will come out. You can't even turn on the lights.
Likewise, if I remain as I am, I cannot light the temple of God. When I die, I break, and I devote myself to the light of God's temple, I can light it.
Another noteworthy word in the text is 'pure oil'.
Here, 'pure oil' refers to a clear, clean, and pure state without mixing with other substances. Therefore, it is said to light the lamp of the sanctuary using only 'olive oil'.
When other things are mixed, it is not clear to see, smells and smells like olive oil, and the flame is not transparent, and the brightness and color of the light are different. Therefore, the oil that illuminates the temple must be pure oil.
What do you mean?
It is said that the faith of the saints must be pure.
The present era is called the 'fusion era'.
The word fusion means 'to mix'.
Mixing different things to create a new genre
The 'fusion' we encounter the most can be found in food culture. That's why 'fusion restaurants' are gaining popularity among young people these days.
You can also see 'fusion' in music. It mixes classical and modern music. It mixes Western and Eastern music. So, I enjoy making a different kind of music, not the original music sound.
Not only that, 'Fusion' has been introduced in the art world and companies as well. Even 'ideas' are influenced by 'fusion', and various ideas are mixed to create unique ideas.
However, what is very worrying is the fact that a 'fusion of faith' is taking place.
It means that we are living in an era of 'religious fusion', in which pluralism is created when religion and religion are mixed, heresy is created when truth and untruth are mixed, and faith and non-belief are mixed and the essence of faith is lost.
Even if the things of the world are mixed and mixed to create completely different genres, 'Fusion of Faith' is absolutely not allowed.
In today's text, God clearly told us to light the lamps of the sanctuary with 'pure oil'.
Dear all!
With pure faith, pure faith, pure heart, and pure devotion, I pray that you will become a saint who brightens the temple of God and shines the light that brightens the world.
Next, if you look at the second half of verse 2, it says, 'Keep the lamp burning continuously'.
The message is to not let the light of the lamp go out in the lamp. The word 'constantly' means 'always, continuously' and refers to 'continuity'. That is, the lamp in the temple is not to be extinguished. It means to light the light continuously 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
What do you mean?
It means that the saints must continue to shine a light in God's temple and in the world. The light must not go out. It doesn't matter if the light is turned on and off. It should not be a lamp that burns out for a short time and then goes out. You need to keep the lamp on and let the light shine.
The commentator 'Baker' put it this way:
'The light that guides the sailors' boats brightens and dims, but the lamp of the sanctuary must always burn with the same brightness. The light of the true truth should always shine brightly, even in the midst of all the sins and temptations of this world.'
That's right.
The fire of truth must continue to burn and its light must continue to shine. Only then will we be able to defeat the darkness and shine the light of truth, the light of life.
Furthermore, in verses 3 to 4 of the text, “Aaron shall always arrange the lamps before the Lord from evening to morning outside the ark of the testimony in the tent of meeting, an everlasting ordinance for your generations to come. said
If you look at the words here, it is said, 'Let it be arranged' and 'Let it be arranged'. Here, 'organization' refers to 'management' and 'finishing'. It means that the lamps and fires of the saints must be managed well and the finishing touches must be done well.
However, if you look closely at the text, it is not about replacing the lamp with a new lamp or another lamp.
The message is to put the current lamp in the correct position, and if there is scorching, wipe it clean and make it new.
So are we.
To organize our own beliefs is to renew ourselves. Before we believe in Jesus or after we believe in Jesus, our outward appearance is the same.
So, what do you need to clean up?
We need to renew our minds, renew our lives, renew our values and visions.
Therefore, I bless you in the name of the Lord that you will always renew yourself and become a shining light.
