Title: Twelve Baskets (Gen. 04:1-5)
Contents First basket: The grace poured out through the sacrifice is the basket
Worship is nothing new. It has always been going on since ancient times. After they sinned, Cain and Abel offered sacrifices to God.
Cain: Since I was a farmer, I offered sacrifices with agricultural products.
Abel: Because he was a pastor, he sacrificed sheep.
God did not accept Cain's offering, but accepted Abel's.
1. Abel's sacrifice was better than Cain's (Hebrews 11:4).
Hebrews 11:4 By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than that of Cain, and he was credited with being righteous, for God was worthy of the gift, because he died, but by his faith he speaks.
There is no perfect person, no righteous person. There is no perfect worship. But there are better sacrifices. God is always looking for better people, better prayers, and better service.1) Abel gave with faith (Hebrews 11:4).
2) Abel gave the firstborn of the best sheep (Genesis 4:4). You must give the first thing to God (Exodus 23:16, 19, 34:22, Numbers 13:20). I gave you oil. Oil cannot be eaten by humans (1 Samuel 2:16).
3) It is the wealth of repentance. It is a sin offering to God. God has ordained the riches to be given by man.
Leviticus 1:2 Speak to the children of Israel, saying, "If any of you make an offering to the LORD, he must offer an offering of cattle or sheep from among livestock.
Hebrews 9:22 - According to the law, almost all things are purified with blood; and without the shedding of blood there is no remission.
In the Old Testament times, sinful humans came to God with the blood of animals. Now we have access to God through the blood of Jesus Christ.
Heb 1O:19-22 - Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way that he opened for us through the veil through the veil, and the veil is his flesh. There is a great priest, and we have been sown in our hearts, realizing the evil of our conscience, and have washed our bodies with pure water. Let us come to God with a true heart and complete faith.
Abel's sacrifice was a sacrifice with sincerity, but Cain's was not. Abel offered a better sacrifice than Cain.
2. Our worship is to give to God (John 4:24, 1 Corinthians 6:20).
Through worship, God receives glory. Through worship, God blesses us. My basket is filled. A nation that does not worship God, and those who serve other things, even what is in the basket will be taken away (Leviticus 9:24, Judges 6:21, 1 Kings 18:38, Psalm 16:4, 1 Corinthians 10:14, Isaiah 44:9).
Psalm 16:4 Those who offer gifts to other gods will suffer more; you will not offer all their blood, nor will I call upon his name with my lips.
Isaiah 44:9 - All who make idols are vain. The idols they delight in are worthless, but their idols neither see nor know them; therefore they will be put to shame.
1) You must be humble.
Even though we are sinners, we go to God and worship Him. Therefore, you should always be aware of your shortcomings and be humble. By relying on the blood of Jesus and going to worship before God, the empty basket is filled (Hebrews 10:19, 13:12-13).
Heb 1O:19 - Therefore, brethren, we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus.
Hebrews 13:12-13 - Therefore, Jesus also suffered outside the gates to sanctify the people by his own blood. So let us go out to him outside the camp, carrying his reproach.
Like Cain, I was forgiven. If you come with an attitude of lack, God will not accept you (Hebrews 10:29).
Heb 10:29 - How much more severe punishment will be deserved by those who have trampled upon the Son of God, and have regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which they were sanctified, and dishonored the Spirit of grace.
2) There must be praise (Hebrews 13:15).
Hebrews 13:15 - Therefore let us always offer to God a sacrifice of praise through Jesus, which is the fruit of lips that speak his name.
There must be a song of repentance. This hymn should be sung by relying on the blood of the Lord with a lack of heart.
3) There must be prayer (Luke 18:14).
Luke 18:14 - I tell you, this man went down to his house justified than the other. Everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
4) There must be gratitude (Genesis 4:
4. 1 Chronicles 29:13-14).
Genesis 4:4 - Abel himself also offered the firstborn of the sheep and their fat, and the LORD accepted Abel and his sacrifice.
1 Chronicles 29:13-14 Now we give thanks to You, O our God, and praise Your glorious name. What is it that I and my people have the strength to give with such a joyful heart? For what I received, I gave to you.
we lack It's always insufficient. Not enough for a lifetime. That is why we must depend on the Lord. We must come to God by relying on the blood of the Lord. Don't just have what you lack. Only worship that believes in Jesus Christ and relies on Him will reach God. Through worship, my basket is filled.
Cain's life was obvious. Why? It was because the worship service did not come up. His basket is forever empty. Eventually, he became a villain.
