Title: Under the Rosemary (1 Kings 19:1)
? &b p; under the rosemary tree
&zsp; 1 Kings 19:1-8
Unfortunately for this threat, Elijah saw only the face of the evil woman instead of God, and he was terrified and started running around. The Bible records that even after fleeing to Beersheba, the southernmost point, he was not relieved, so he went further into the wilderness by himself. But, if you look closely at the Bible, what is even more ridiculous is that he fled “for his own life.” what do you mean? It was because I was afraid of dying. Then, you will fight for your life to the end. Why are you asking me to kill you now? The life that was saved by winning the battle with the prophets of Baal and Asherah by risking his life a while ago, and that the person who ran away on the same day and a few hours to save that life now wants to kill him. Even if there is something contradictory, it is not just me. don't you? If Elijah was dead, he should have already died. But until now, he had completely forgotten that God had protected his life. We had to watch him feed through the ravens by the brook Cherith, and hide from Ahab's patrols, and even in the land of Sidon, the homeland of Baal, hid in the house of the widow of Zarephath and protected for a long time.
There was a boy who had a pet turtle. One day, a boy who found a tortoise lying still in the pond, as if dead, burst into tears. I don't know if it will ever stop. The father sees this and tries to comfort his son. “Don't cry. Let's do a nice funeral for the tortoise. Make a coffin, spread silk in it, call a funeral director, make a tombstone, and write the name of the turtle. Then, put fresh flowers on the grave every day, and make a white fence around the grave with small stakes. And let's raise a new tortoise in the pond rather than an old tortoise." At that, the child stopped crying and prepared everything with joy. But the turtle's body was gone. After looking around for a while, I saw a tortoise I thought was dead, rising from the depths of the pond and swimming happily. The boy looked at him with so much disappointment, not with joy, and then he said, “Daddy! We're going to kill that tortoise.” This antagonizing, momentary, and always situational, fragile figure is a human being.
character! Nevertheless, behold the wonderful grace of God who continues to put up with the pathetic people and finally makes them perfect children of the Lord. Elijah, exhausted both physically and mentally, throws himself under a broom tree and begs him to die. I gave up everything. The vocation of God's spiritual prophet, the great hope for Israel's spiritual renewal, and the faithful servant whom he shared with him,
Isn't the place we are standing today under the rosem tree, a scene of exhaustion and despair? However, please remember that that place is not the place of failure or the final destination, but the starting point of new strength where God's power blooms.
Dear saints,
Are you standing under the rosem tree now? Please wake up soon. The place we should stay is not under the rosemary tree in the wilderness where we grumble, “I am going to die,” because we are weary, bothersome, exhausted, lonely, have too many trials, because our life is so hard, but God’s grace and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ This is under the cross of Calvary. Looking at the cross, I hope that you will live a life of victory through faith in today's era when the reality and hope of exhaustion disappear.
