Title: Unthankful Sin/Isa 38:1-8
Contents Bible Reading: Isaiah 38:1-8
Subject: The Unthankful Sin
Christianity is a religion of thanksgiving. The cause of King Hezekiah's suffering from disease was that he was proud of his heart and did not repay the favor he received, and wrath came upon him.
(2 Chronicles 32:25) Because Hezekiah was proud of his heart and did not repay the kindness he had received, wrath came upon him, Judah, and Jerusalem.
We learn the following lessons from Hezekiah's disease.
1. Let's pay the favor
The grace we have received from God is tangible, intangible, spiritual, and carnal. It is truly unfortunate that Hezekiah did not repay the grace of God for defeating 185,000 Assyrian troops in one night.
(Proverbs 17:3) The crucible refines silver and the furnace refines gold, but the LORD tests the heart.
We must repay the grace we have received from God with thanksgiving.
(2 Timothy 3:1) Know this that you will come to times of trouble in the last days...
Explain that the reason is not being thankful.
2. Hezekiah who repented through serious illness
God, who forgives even seventy seven times, answered the prayer of Hezekiah, who was sentenced to death and pleaded with intense weeping.
(Psalm 40:2) He brought me up out of the miraculous pit and pit, and set my feet upon a rock.
You have strengthened my steps
(Psalm 6:8) Leave me, all you evildoers, for the LORD has heard my cries.
3. Those who live according to God's will respond quickly.
(Isa 38:2-3) Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the LORD, saying, "O LORD, I beg you, remember that I did what you did before you in truth and with all my heart, and doing what was good in your sight."
For those who usually live according to His will before God, we can see that they respond quickly when we cry out on the day of tribulation. We should strive to live a life of thanksgiving to God. In addition, we must not neglect to give thanks even more when we receive special graces.
