Title: Venture believers / Matthew 14:22-33
There are a lot of venture companies these days. Venture companies are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that develop creative and adventurous management with advanced expertise and new technologies. Many in the software sector of computers, in the biological engineering sector. Venture winds are blowing in this world right now. A true venture can be successful when it is for your neighbor, not yourself.
“Venture” means “try something risky.” A venture is defined as “to do something boldly or boldly.” Ventures can be described as adventures. A man who spent 30 years crazy about trees cultivated a gravel field and turned it into a garden with an adventurous and pioneering spirit. There is a Bonsai Art Center in Jeju where bonsai are on display. I also wrote down lessons while explaining the bonsai. It's in this article: "A tree will die if its roots are not cut off, and a person will grow old quickly if he doesn't change his mind (or cut off stereotypes)." A believer cuts off the roots of old thoughts and lives with new thoughts.
Jesus' words, “Go out into the deep and catch a fish,” call for a new idea, an adventure. Until now, you have lowered your nets to catch fish, but the command to lower your nets again to catch fish is demanding the life of Peter who challenges. The disciple Peter did as he said. “They have toiled all night and have gained nothing, but at the word they will let down their nets.” Venture believers are obedient to doing things they have never done before.
There have been about five amphibious assaults in the history of mankind, of which, during World War II, only one of the Normandy landings succeeded and the rest failed. However, the fact that General MacArthur said that the Incheon landing operation failed 99% during the Korean War was 100% successful because of MacArthur's adventurous spirit. MacArthur challenged with a success rate of 1/500.
Rod Pearston said: “Do you want to be successful? Then, we have to open a new road that no one has gone, not the one that has already been pioneered.” Those who have achieved great achievements in human history are those who have pioneered unknown paths all the time. Looking around us, there are countless roads that have not yet been taken.
There are many people who conquered Mount Everest. Now, only by conquering the summit in a path that no one has gone before can it be meaningful and recognized.
Ordinary thoughts always lead to ordinary things. Venture believers are believers who do not hesitate to take risks. To live by the Word is to obey in order to experience what I have not experienced.
Abraham, not knowing where he was going, obeyed God's word and went on his way. This made Abraham the father of faith. Gideon's 300 men obeyed God's way in the war, and they won a wonderful victory. It is an adventure for Moses to cross the Red Sea. It is an adventure to go through the wilderness with so many people. Moses is the one who put adventures into action.
Columbus is famous for being an explorer. He made four voyages, and on the last voyage he discovered America. He believed in Jesus for the last 14 years of his life, and confesses, “The happiest time for me was during the 14 years I believed in Jesus.” To have something you've never had before, you have to do something you've never done before. Columbus was a man who tried something no one else had ever tried. There is nothing to have without adventure.
“Nothing venture, nothing have.” This saying is equivalent to the saying, “You have to go to the tiger burrow to catch a tiger cub.”
During World War II, General Maybram and all his troops were besieged. At this time, the general exclaimed: “Gentlemen, since the beginning of the war, for the first time, we have had the opportunity to attack on all sides. Now let's shoot everywhere. First, the general commanded and attacked, leading to victory. If you thought you were surrounded on all sides, you would have failed.
Among the venturers, the venturer is Jesus. I am a venture person because I have ventured alone in obedience to God's plan of salvation. He did the work of saving mankind by dying on the cross. Jesus wanted his disciples to become venture believers.
When the centurion said that even if he did not come to the house to heal his servant, he would be healed by just saying the word, he commended him, saying that he had never met such great faith. Great faith is an adventurer. Jesus wants us to become such venture believers. Disciples of Jesus are those who do things that no one else has done. A person who is filled with the Holy Spirit is one who thinks about things that others cannot think of. The prophet Joel prophesied that when we receive the Holy Spirit, “Your children will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.”
When Peter saw Jesus walking on the sea, he asked him to let him also walk on the sea. Walking on water is something no one has ever thought of and experienced before. “Command me to come over the sea.” Jesus allowed Peter to do just like Jesus. This is a huge venture-type action. Adventures do not fail when you follow the words of Jesus. You will be guaranteed success. Because it guides you on the path of adventure. Adventure leads us to a more valuable life.
A piece of iron worth 350 won is not a risk to the mistress. So I think it's junk. A blacksmith goes on an adventure with a piece of iron. Make a horseshoe. It becomes a horseshoe (horsor) worth 8,000 won. If you make a needle, you get 250,000 won, if you make a razor blade, you get 2.3 million won, and if you make a luxury watch spring, you get 180 million won. When you go on an adventure with a lump of iron, its purpose and value will change. Longfellows write poems on paper and make them worth 7.2 million won (6,000 dollars). An artist draws on paper and receives billions of dollars. Those who take risks make themselves more valuable. A person who takes a risk and fails is 100 times better than a person who does nothing and never fails. As Napoleon said, "Nothing is impossible in my dictionary." When he acted like that, he could become a great person. Paul was greatly used by God as he said, “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”
All of God's Word is a word that demands adventure from us. Everyone who is obedient will venture into amazing things in life. This will cause conflict. But be obedient. Ordinary people become extraordinary people. Become a venture believer by obedience.
