Bible: Hebrews 12:18-29

If we look at the Bible, we see the persistent relationship between Israel and the Philistines. But it wasn't a good relationship. The Philistines have a long-standing bond that has afflicted Israel. The Israelites demanded a king from the prophet Samuel in order to destroy the Philistines who are like thorns in their eyes. It was because they wanted to destroy the Philistines with a mighty army by setting up a king like other nations.

It was only during the reign of King David, the second king of Israel that we know well, that the Philistines were completely destroyed. However, after King David's death, the Philistines raised their heads again and continued their bitter relationship with Israel. This history with the Philistines continues to this day. The border between Israel and Palestine is less than the distance from Seoul to Anyang. The Palestinians who continue to have an uncomfortable relationship with Israel today are the descendants of the Philistines.

If we go on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, we can see that the border area is separated by a high wall between Israel and Palestine.

When these Philistines and Eli were priests in Israel, a war broke out in the area called Aphek. Israel is defeated in the First War. So, in the second battle, they went out with the ark of God. But in the second war, Israel also loses the war. And the orbital Philistines take them away. The Philistines took the ark and took it to the temple of Dagon, where they were worshiping. It was with the desire to win the war with the ark. However, the ark caused the statue of Dagon to be destroyed.

When we read this incident through the Bible, all we can think of is that if we take the ark to war, we will be able to win. However, it was not because he had faith in God, but because he had a greater desire to use God in war. So did the Philistines. They wanted to take the ark of Israel and use it to win their wars.

We realize an important fact here. We think about whether we deeply believe and trust God. Is it faith to follow and obey God, or is it to use God for my own gain?

There is so much to learn from the history of the earth. After the First World War, science developed a lot. So, I have been thinking a lot about peace in human society. The international community established the League of Nations in 1925 for world peace. But 25 years later, in 1939, World War II broke out. I thought the world would be at peace with the plans made by humans. But God was not there. If there was a God, God would have only been used as an instrument in the plans made by humans.

In John 4, we see a Samaritan woman. This woman had changed husbands five times and was living with her sixth husband, but he did not have a very good relationship with him. So, she was a woman who lived an isolated life without any relationships with people. This woman met Jesus. And he accepted Jesus into his life. Then this woman's life changed and she went into her village and became a preacher of Jesus. She has also turned into a woman who can heal other people's wounds. Those who truly have Jesus in their heart and live will change their lives in this way.

How much is the world we live in these days changing? Everything is changing so fast that everything is shaking and falling into chaos. But today's Bible says that those who have Jesus Christ will have a kingdom that cannot be shaken. The fact is that in a world that is shaken, we will live a bold life with the Lord who is not shaken. Please fear Jesus. The church is a place of worship. Every church in this world has a purpose of worship. If the church loses this goal, it is no longer the church.

In the name of the Lord, I pray in the name of the Lord that we will worship God with a heart that truly fears God, and that we will become believers who live boldly and unwaveringly in a world that is shaken by Jesus.
