Virgin Mary (Luke 1:26-38)
1. God's Grace to Mary
(1) The greatest reason that Mary can shine in the history of Christmas is that she received grace (verse 28). Grace is God's direct visitation to sinners.
(2) The angel announces the birth of the Messiah according to the prophecy of the Bible (verse 31). If faith in Jesus Christ, who was born of the Virgin Mary, is omitted from the Apostles' Creed, there is no death and resurrection of Jesus Christ on the cross.
2. Do you confess the birth of Jesus by faith in the Apostles' Creed?
(1) "Be conceived by the Holy Spirit" The ultimate conception of God's new work, the true initiative of God's new work was entirely accomplished by the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Creation.
(2) “Born of the Virgin Mary” This is the content that tells us that God chose a certain path when he entered human history in a concrete human body.
⑶ It is a matter of how to participate in God's work of salvation. The human role here is very passive. Man can only submit to the will of God, which is antecedent (verse 38).
3. Anything is possible with God.
⑴ What is a miracle? (Verses 32-33). The sign will be the fulfillment of God's prophecy (verse 33).
(2) It is difficult for us to know how God works miracles (verse 34).
You may not know the miracle process because you do not know how God is prophesying and when and how it will be fulfilled. But what is clear is that God uses clean people. The way God's word is fulfilled is through the work of the Holy Spirit (verse 35).
4. The spirituality of Mary obediently before the Word (verse 37)
(1) The people God uses are those who obey the Word of God.
(2) Mary gave herself to the word of God (verse 38).
With God, anything is possible.
If we obey God's word when it comes, the glory of God will be revealed. The glory of God works in things we cannot imagine. Let's long for God's grace to come into our lives on Christmas Day.
