Title: Vision must continue / Genesis 37:5-11
The content vision must continue / Genesis 37:5-11
'… Please listen to my dream...' (Genesis 37:5-11)
Visions are invisible, but appear in a clear picture to those who dream. Therefore, the vision is like a bridge between the present and the future. It is the bridge of vision that made Joseph's life full of dreams a success.
Joseph had a dream twice and told it about it. Verse 5 says, “Joseph had a dream” and in verse 9 “Joseph dreamed another dream”. If the dream had been vivid and alive in Joseph's heart, who was telling the stories his brothers hated twice, how would he have told them with the preparedness of being insulted by his brothers?
The brothers hated Joseph. When hatred enters a person, he cannot see the truth. As a result, the brothers could not discover the true truth of what Joseph was saying. God's commands are revealed in the field when they are proclaimed through our mouths. When it was proclaimed through the prophets, God's people could hear it and prepare, and those who did not ignore it.
And the vision must continue to be supplied. There are cases in which a dream achieves what one desires, but in the text, a dream was a channel to hear the voice of God. The source of Joseph's vision was God, not himself. Because God was the provider of the dream, he wanted to know the meaning of the dream, so he told his brothers and his father. Just as a physical dream can be dreamed while sleeping, in order to have God's vision, we must meet God. Joseph was thoroughly sensitive to God. So I could see God's plan.
Also, the vision must be engraved in the heart. Verse 11 says, “His brothers were jealous, but his father kept the word.” Those words were God's plan for Joseph. The brothers were jealous of Joseph, but his father took it to heart. Vision is powerless if you only calculate profit with your head. We must learn to keep it in our hearts and wait for the future that will be realized through God.
