Sermons for Preaching

Title: Vision or Desire/ Deuteronomy 34:1-7

Content Vision or Desire/ Deuteronomy 34:1-7

Key Verse: “Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted” (Matthew 23:12).

Word: Moses is one of the greatest figures in the history of Israel. Although Moses was not a king, he is considered the greatest person who saved the nation. What was Moses' ultimate goal? It is the conquest of the land of Canaan. In today's text, God brought Moses to the top of Mount Bisgah. Then, they see the entire land of Canaan. You will see a land flowing with milk and honey. He is on the verge of reaching his final goal. But just then, God says, “You shall not cross over there” (Deuteronomy 34:4). Moses did not reject God's will, he obeyed it. If Moses had entered the land of Canaan, the Israelites would have tried to exalt Moses. God knew the folly of the people and brought Moses back. In some ways, Moses seems like a forsaken person, but Moses could not enter the land of Canaan because of God's love (Hebrews 12:5-11).

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help us to be true leaders and live for our vision, not for our desires. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
