Title: Voice of God
God's voice (voice)
Text: Psalm 29:1-11
1. Ascribe to the LORD, you mighty ones, glory and power.
2. Give the LORD the glory that is due to his name, and worship the LORD in holy garments.
3. The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory makes a thunder; the LORD is over many waters.
4. The voice of the LORD is mighty; the voice of the LORD is majestic.
5. The voice of the LORD breaks the cedar; the LORD breaks the cedar of Lebanon.
6. He makes the tree leap like a calf; He makes Lebanon and Syrio leap like a calf of the field.
7. The voice of the LORD divides the flame
8. The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
9. The voice of the LORD makes the deer abort, and ravages the forest; in his temple all his things say, Glory.
10. The LORD is enthroned in the flood; the LORD is enthroned as king forever.
11. The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace.
Some gave birth to a son. The baby has started toggling. The father made sure that the door opens and closes so that the baby can now open and walk around. lowered the threshold. I have removed the stones from the house. A mother makes rice like porridge for her son. It contains the voice of the father and the voice of the mother. In this way, the voice of God is contained in nature. David hears the voice of God through the sounds of nature. The word “voice of God” appears seven times in the text. Listening to God's voice gives you strength and peace in your heart.
See verses 1 and 2.
“Give to the LORD glory and power, you mighty ones; give the LORD the glory that is due to his name, and worship the LORD in holy garments.”
Let's imagine. There is a spermatozoon in the Golan Heights. In front is the Sea of Galilee. Behind him is Mount Hermon. As I am enjoying it, the clouds are rolling in. Lebanon's cedar is struck by lightning. It breaks. A cedar struck by lightning bounces back and forth like a calf. An earthquake occurs in the wilderness of Kadesh. A doe that was grazing is killed by an earthquake. David smiled when he saw this. Around David are the Prime Minister and the Minister of the Interior and Foreign Affairs. David tells them to worship God. It is God who gives glory and power to the powerful. It is God who gave us material things and made science and medicine develop. Therefore, they should not brag about themselves. We must give glory to Jehovah. We must worship Jehovah in holy clothing. It should be glorified worthy of its name.
The scribes copied the Bible. When the name Jehovah came up, they bathed, changed clothes, and copied the Bible. God does not dare to call his name. He is a God of love and salvation. He is who He is. We must worship him worthy of it. As we go through life, problems overwhelm us. The problem looks big and we get hit by it. Without God, we are bound to die under problems. However, we must look to the mighty God in any difficulties. We must worship God and praise God. When we praise God, the problem becomes smaller. You can see the problem from God's side.
The position of those who belong to God is truly great. Even if he lives on the earth, his status is so high and honorable that he commands those in power. So David gave the glory and power to Jehovah, and commanded that the glory be given to the name of the Lord. “The glory that is due” (v. 2) is the treat God deserves as God. In the name of love, God is sometimes rendered powerless without justice. Also, in the name of evangelism, there are cases of preaching God according to the tastes of others. Anytime, anywhere, God must receive the glory he deserves as God. To give God the glory he deserves, he must return to his duty as a creature and be ‘ordered, set apart, and prepared’ (“put on holy garments”) and always ‘live before God’ (‘worship God’).
Let's read verse 1 again.
“Give glory and power to the LORD, you mighty ones.”
On his deathbed, the English Puritan theologian Baxter shook his head as his friends comforted him and praised him for his wonderful writings, saying, "I myself am but a pen in God's hand."
Also, a great British politician and religious reformer, Cromwell, when he returned to London as a triumphal general after winning the war, greeted him with cheers in a cheery atmosphere, and instead bowed his head deeply and said:
“Let us glorify the Lord alone and praise the Lord for giving us victory.”
St. Francis was also the greatest saint born to mankind, but he did not want his name, not God, to be famous, so he did not want to leave an autobiography or even a diary.
In this way, our great ancestors of faith gave all the glory that came to them to God. Are we too?
Let's look at verse 2 together.
“Give the LORD the glory that is due to his name, and worship the LORD in holy garments.”
“Exalt ye the LORD our God and worship him on his holy mountain; for the LORD our God is holy” (Psalm 99:9).
See verses 3-6 of the text.
“The voice of the LORD is upon the waters; the God of glory makes a thunder; the LORD is over many waters; the voice of the LORD is mighty; the voice of the LORD is majestic; the voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD hath broken Lebanon. He breaks the cedar and breaks it down; He makes it leap like a calf; He makes Lebanon and Syria leap like a calf of the field.”
David describes the thunderstorm, the thunder, and the torrential rain. A storm blows and the cedars are broken. The tree is cut down and makes it leap like a calf. He makes the trees of Lebanon and Syion leap like calves. Shows how majestic the storm is.
We must hear God's voice through the sounds of nature. Sometimes God speaks with thunder, and sometimes with a small voice. We hear the voice of God even in a single flower. God spoke to Elijah in a small voice. Heaven is the throne of God. The earth is God's footstool. The beauty of the mountains is the garment of God. David said that day speaks to day and night speaks to night. It is said that the firmament of heaven proclaims the glory of God. In the evening at home, the child waits for the mother. My mother comes at night and says, ‘It’s me!’ Likewise, God says, ‘I am!’ in nature. Jesus is a hundred
