Title: Wait
Ruth 3:16-18
And Ruth came to her mother-in-law, and she said, "My daughter, what happened?" And she told all that the man had done to him, and said, "He gave me this barley six times, and said, "Do not go to your mother-in-law empty-handed." Sit still until you know what will happen, for the man will not rest until he has accomplished this today.
Ruth's mother-in-law, Naomi, must have stayed up all night after leaving Ruth in the evening. He must have prayed to God, looking out the door and waking up all night with his back luggage. “God, do not leave that little one, that poor one, and protect me.” I must have stayed up all night praying like this.
Then, at dawn, when it is still difficult to distinguish the person, someone enters the door. who would you Will there be any more Ruth at that early hour?
"And Ruth came to her mother-in-law, and she said, "What happened, my daughter?"
"My daughter!" Even though it was a dark dawn that was not yet bright, Naomi recognized Ruth immediately. Ask what the result was. Cross-references In the Bible, the word “how” says to look at cross-reference number 2. Looking at the cross-reference, it says "Who are you?" In other words, the original meaning of the original word is "Who are you?" "My daughter, who are you?" Did you ask because you don't know the name? That's not it. "Yes, did you succeed in what you went to? Are you going to get married now? Are you going to be Boaz's wife? Or have you failed? My daughter, what was the outcome?" It has this meaning.
3:16, "The man told him all that Ruth had done to him."
Ruth answers her mother-in-law's question. Who is "that person" here? This is Boaz. Boaz told him that everything he had done to him was different and different.
What did Boaz do? This is from 3:10. “My daughter, the Lord bless you.” First of all, I wish you luck. And he praised Ruth for what she had done, saying, "You did not follow the young, neither the rich nor the poor, so your kindness is greater than the first."
And in verse 11, he comforted me, saying, “Do not be afraid, my daughter.” He also promised, “I will do to you whatever you say.” He continued, "All the people of my city know that you are a virtuous woman." He praised Ruth for being a virtuous woman. In verse 12, I even promised that I would either give up your inheritance or let another relative closer than me to you. Ruth told Naomi everything in verses 10-13, including blessings, praise, comfort, and promises about Ruth.
Older people like to visit and talk to each other and talk about everything they have. This is what filial piety is. "I'll do it all. Just stay. Don't interfere." This kind of sound really upsets people. I hope you all do the same. When I get home in the evening, I will tell you in detail what happened that day. And especially, if you give thanks to God while talking about the good or gracious things that happened that day, your family will be more filled with joy.
Ruth told her everything that had happened to her. Ruth is truly a blessed person.
Not only that. Boaz thought of Naomi and offered the barley he had given him. Look for the word that means many in verse 17.
“He said, ‘He gave me this barley six times, saying, ‘Do not go to your mother-in-law empty-handed.
Not just barley, but "this" barley. It means "barley who does this much". Also, he said that it was "six times", not just once or twice. This also means a lot. Six children are two ephahs. In other words, it was more than two small cows.
“It is said that you must not go to your mother-in-law empty-handed.”
Naomi had been empty-handed all this time. I wasn't rich. It was so in two ways. One was food, and the other was descendants, that is, empty-handed in the inheritance. The form is now resolved. In addition, the absence of a son and the disappearance of the company are now at the moment when the issue is about to be resolved. Now is the moment when everything is about to abound.
If Ruth had returned empty-handed, bleak and weeping, she would have thought, "The plan has failed." But when Ruth came, she saw that she had a lot on her head. What does it mean? It gives you a good feeling, saying, "Something good has happened, now Ruth will get married."
Where there is a downhill road, there is an uphill road. The downhill road is not the end. Sometimes it takes 1 step back to take 2 steps forward. To jump high, the frog first crouches down. Then, straighten your body and jump. Likewise, going downhill can be a preparation process. You can start fresh. Behind the valley of the shadow of death are the waters of rest. There is no need to be discouraged or discouraged when you enter the valley of the shadow of death. Because it is a time for a new beginning, a stepping-stone to blessing, and a stepping-stone.
Naomi listens to Ruth's story and gives her advice. It is the job of older people to advise the young and lead them on the right path. Let's see what Naomi has to say.
3:18, "Then her mother-in-law said, "My daughter, sit still until you know how this thing will turn out, for the man will not rest until he has accomplished this today."
I said, "My daughter," hoping that Ruth will do well. Now we just have to wait and see what the outcome will be.
For Ruth and Naomi, one thing is certain and one thing is uncertain. What is certain is that Ruth is getting married. It is certain that the broken company will continue. What is uncertain is whether the other party is Boaz or a closer relative than Boaz. Boaz wants Ruth. I like Ruth. It is the heart that will take over the company. However, no shortcut was used. Boaz was truthful. Naomi told them all that they had closer relatives. He said that it would be good if the relative tried to fulfill the responsibility of the person carrying out the business, or he would do it himself.
Will Ruth go to Boaz, or to a closer relative than Boaz? How do you think it will be? Boaz said that the whole city of Bethlehem knew that Ruth was a virtuous woman. So, a closer relative than Boaz must know about it. Then, knowing that, will she really give up on Ruth? Such a question comes to mind.
Come on everyone! For whom should we pray? Who would you like Ruth to marry? Boaz? So do i. Let's pray. You will have to pray this morning so that a relative closer than Boaz can give up and Boaz can take charge of Ruth. And let's see what the result will be.
"Then the mother-in-law said, "My daughter, sit still until you know how this case will turn out."
I told him to sit still. Ruth did all she had to do. Ruth listened to Naomi and obeyed and did everything. Now, whose hands are the results? It means to leave it in God's hands and wait for the results that God shows. It means to wait patiently and not be impatient. Now that you've done your job, let's just leave it as God leads us.
We need to be able to wait patiently while doing all we have to do and leaving the results to God. God will do it.
Exodus 14:13, "Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today; the Egyptians you saw today will never be seen again."
Psalm 46:10, "Be still, and know that I am God, for he says, I will be exalted in the nations and in the world."
We pray to God about something. God answers our prayers in His way when He thinks it is the best time for Him. But we cannot wait. If you just pray, I think it will be answered quickly. What God is doing is clear. Therefore, until God's time comes, we must do our best to do our best and learn to wait for the results.
1 Peter 5:6, "Therefore humble yourself under the mighty hand of God, for in due time he will exalt you."
Jeremiah 23:5, "Behold, the days are coming, saith the LORD, when I will raise up a righteous branch in David, and he will reign as king, and exercise wisely, to do justice and justice in the world."
It seems that people in our country are also very impatient. You lack patience. Why is he in such a hurry, he goes to the well and asks for a drink. Whether you go to Europe, Mexico, or wherever you go, do you know what the people of that country say when they see our people? "quickly." One of the most well-known Korean words is “quickly quickly”.
Koreans wanted jajangmyeon in New York, so they went to a Chinese restaurant to eat jajangmyeon. I placed an order and told him to bring it quickly, but the owner got angry and didn't want to hear what he was saying, so he evacuated from Seoul to New York and followed him all the way to New York.
On the highway, there is a saying, "Go 5 minutes earlier, go 50 years earlier". It's not good to be hasty. It was called Jininsa Daecheonmyeong. We must do our best and be able to wait for God's will.
World War II broke out. The Allied Forces planned the operation. Allied troops landed in Normandy and planned to push out. Every operation was meticulously crafted from one to ten without exception. However, there is a weather forecast, and it is a weather forecast that there will be thick fog at dawn on the day of the amphibious operation. Your watch must be bright to land on shore. That way you can succeed, but you can't even land in a thick fog.
Eisenhower, then President of the United States, spent the night with his staff.
