Also, on the day of Pentecost, ten days after Jesus' ascension, the Holy Spirit came down as promised. Today is Pentecost Sunday, which is celebrated by giving thanks to God for sending the Holy Spirit. This morning, on Pentecost Sunday, I would like to share the grace with you under the title of "Wait for what the Father promised."

I. What did the father promise?

< The promise of the Father is baptism with the Holy Spirit - baptism with the Holy Spirit - (verses 4-5) "After that I will pour out my Spirit on all people" (Joel 2:28) The word promised through the prophet Joel around 830 B.C. is. He pours out the Holy Spirit, the God of God, on all people. give the baptism of the Holy Spirit This is God's promise. We need a proper understanding of the Holy Spirit. “You will be baptized with the Holy Spirit” (verse 5), “Be filled with the Holy Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18). Then, what is the baptism of the Holy Spirit and what is the filling of the Holy Spirit? The filling of the Holy Spirit is a life of being completely grasped by the Holy Spirit as a result of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a spiritual experience that begins a life filled with the Holy Spirit. Also, what is the relationship between the baptism of the Holy Spirit and regeneration?

There are many disagreements. ① “If you believe in Jesus and are regenerated, you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit and be filled with the Holy Spirit. Therefore, you do not need to be baptized with the Holy Spirit again.” Regeneration and the baptism of the Holy Spirit are the same. ② On the other hand, it is said, "You must be baptized in the Holy Spirit to be born again. If you do not have the experience of being baptized in the Holy Spirit, you are not born again," and the sign of the baptism in the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is related to the salvation of all living beings. It is said that you must be baptized with the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues to be saved.

However, ② baptism in the Holy Spirit means that those who are regenerated by the Holy Spirit and become children of God receive the power to live as children of God. According to the Gospels, Jesus' disciples were already saved before the coming of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. “Rejoice that your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:20), “You are already clean by the words I spoke to you” (John 15:3) “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Matthew 16) :16) and confessed his faith. In this way, it is certain that the disciples were regenerated and saved.
Dear all! Anyone who believes in Jesus will be born again. You will be saved and become children of God.

However, the children of God who have been regenerated and saved must be baptized with the Holy Spirit and filled with the Holy Spirit in order to overcome this world, overcome the devil, and fulfill the mission God has entrusted to them. We have been regenerated through faith in Jesus Christ, and we have been saved and become children of God. However, in order to become a victorious Christian and a glorious Christian, you must receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit and be filled with the Holy Spirit to do God's work, and to become a witness of the Gospel, you must be filled with the Holy Spirit.

II. Why do we need to receive the promised Holy Spirit?

When things go well, it seems that God loves me, and when things go wrong and difficult things happen, it seems that God does not love me… … . So I have doubts and no certainty. So I can't be bold. Jesus' disciples were also cowards. The disciples are those who have been saved. But I see you are so weak. But after being filled with the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, the disciples were very different. When Peter and John were questioned and threatened at the council, they didn't say, "Yes, please spare me one more time." "Judge whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, for we are compelled to speak of what we have seen and heard." How proud are you? Not the Peter of a few days ago. He was bold in the face of death and in the face of the council. This is the power of the Holy Spirit.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses” (Acts 1:8). It becomes prayer, service, and evangelism. “It is not by force, not by power, but by my spirit” (Zechariah 4:7). There is no other way. It is said that only my God the Holy Spirit is the only way. So the Lord commanded us not to leave Jerusalem and to receive the promised Holy Spirit. Those who have been saved, those who have been regenerated, those who have become children of God, and those who have become disciples of Christ must receive the filling of the Holy Spirit. This is the Lord's command.

Ⅲ. How can we receive the promised Holy Spirit?

< First, you must not leave Jerusalem. What does "Do not leave Jerusalem" mean? Jerusalem means the church, the body of the Lord. The command not to leave Jerusalem is not to leave the church, which is the body of the Lord, but to correct the life of faith in the church. You cannot start a life of faith right away without leaving the church. So the Lord told us not to leave Jerusalem. Dear all! I pray that you will become saints who never leave Jerusalem. I pray that you will become saints filled with the Holy Spirit by correcting your life of faith in the church, the body of the Lord.

But the most precious gift The greatest gift is the Holy Spirit. As long as you live a life filled with the Holy Spirit, all good things are in the filling of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, we will long for only the napa sesame and the filling of the Holy Spirit. We must pray and wait. Those who truly yearn for the filling of the Holy Spirit will pray. The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit came when we prayed. After praying, the gathering place shook and the crowd said that they were filled with the Holy Spirit. (Acts 4:31) The Korean church hopes that the great revival movement that took place in Pyongyang in 1907 will happen again in this land. This revival movement is also a movement that took place when the Holy Spirit came when we prayed together. The Holy Spirit works when we pray. A believer who prays can lead a life filled with the Holy Spirit. Without prayer, you can never be filled with the Holy Spirit.
