Title: Walk with Jesus
2007.1.14 Sunday morning sermon
This chapter is a scene where two disciples, losing hope after Jesus died on the cross, left Jerusalem and went down to Emmaus, where they met the resurrected Jesus, but did not know that it was Jesus and walked together.
Then I ate the bread the Lord gave me, my eyes were opened, I heard the Bible, and I fully understood. This year, we want to get a message under the theme of walking with Jesus, hoping that the days of walking with Jesus will be more concrete.
The Christian faith is not a religion where you go to bow down before some idol like other religions. Jesus is a living religion as He has risen from the dead and sees us.
Therefore, the religious life must come alive. A life that is experiential and the Lord walks with you in life must be done. It's not a philosophy, it's different from the nature of being a monk.
How do you experience walking with the Lord and experience it in your life?
1. Faith comes first
25 Our faith is not slow, as it is said, “You foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken.”
Despite the fact that there is no other religion in the world that is as clear and as evidenced by evidence as Jesus, people do not believe in themselves. No, Christians listen to the Bible every week and do spiritual training, but do not believe. It is a state of mind filled with people's stupidity, stubbornness, and unbelief.
Although the disciples shared erosion together for three years and experienced lessons and miracles on various occasions, their faith was at the bottom. They were good-natured apostles, not disciples who were satisfied with the Lord's heart.
The centurion received more praise than the apostle, but he said to commemorate the woman who broke the alabaster and washed the Lord's feet with perfumed oil.
Those of you who are foolish and slow to believe, these are the words of rebuke for your insensitivity and dullness of heart to the words of Old Testament prophecy and God's promises.
Christianity is a religion of faith.
In fact, there is no other criterion for categorizing the Bible as the Word of God. I just believe. You just read, listen, and see if that's really true and true. After 2,000 years of research, the Bible is true and Jesus is resurrected.
The two disciples are talking about a dull spiritual state that they do not realize even though they walk with the risen Lord because their eyes are dark.
This chapter 15-16 says, “As they were talking and inquiring, Jesus came near and went with them, 16 but their eyes were blinded, so that they did not recognize him.”
The human eye uses both the physical eye and the spiritual eye. If your physical eyes are also dark, you must use glasses. The spiritual eye, that is, the spiritual eye, must be revealed by God, and this spiritual eye, the spiritual eye, and the eye of inspiration used in the general religious community, those who practice the Way, and the artists are very important to man.
Wrong inspiration destroys the soul. Therefore, when you open your eyes to mysticism or false ideas, you harm yourself and your neighbours. In history, there have been cases where it was misunderstood and propaganda that took the minds of many people.
When we look at the world with faith based on our knowledge of the Son of God, Jesus Christ, the Lord will be with us and fill our lives with life.
2. Get a sense of companionship through the Word
32 "They said to one another, "Weren't our hearts burning within us while he was speaking to us on the road and opening the scriptures to us?"
The basis of the Christian faith is the Bible. The Bible is not just a textbook. These are the words of life that the living God had written by inspiration. Thus, those who read and those who hear have life. In other words, it means to attain salvation by gaining the dynamic vitality of life.
John 6:63 “It is the Spirit that gives life; the flesh is of no avail. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.”
2 Timothy 3:15 “And from your youth you have known the Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.”
He told the two disciples who were going down to Emmaus that their hearts were warm when the Lord interpreted and interpreted the Word.
John 1:14 “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”
John 5:39 “You search the scriptures, thinking that you have eternal life, and these scriptures testify of me.”
John 5:46 “If you had believed Moses, you would have believed me again, for he wrote about me.”
When the apostles preached the gospel, the Bereas showed manners and personality.
Acts 17:11-12 “The Bereas were more gentle than those in Thessalonica, and they received the word with all earnestness, and searched the scriptures daily to see if this was the case. 』
The Bible should be close to your body in your hand. The Word should be heard and read often and often. We need a habit of refilling our ears, who are accustomed to the sounds of the world, with the sounds of the Bible. Only then will there be a history of walking with the Lord of the Word.
3. It is important to wait in the temple to walk with the Lord
49 “Behold, I am sending you what my Father promised, so stay in this city until you are clothed with power from on high.”
Ultimately, we must be moved by the Holy Spirit for the Lord's Word to be personally with us and for the work of walking with God to take place in our lives. So, even before the ascension, the Lord asked the disciples to ask.
Acts 1:4 “They gathered together with the apostles and commanded them, saying, ‘Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which you have heard from me.
So, they devoted themselves to prayer for 10 days, and in the end, the 120 disciples who prayed in Mark's upper room on the day of Pentecost were filled with the Holy Spirit and were able to stand as witnesses with conviction and testimony of the Words given during that time.
If there is a person who has had a very special meeting after the Lord's ascension into heaven, it is the Apostle Paul. After that person, the Lord does not meet directly, but through the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 15:8 “Last of all, he appeared to me as one born out of full term.”
After that, all of us experience the Lord under the influence of the Holy Spirit and understand and experience walking with the Lord through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Galatians 5:16 “I tell you, walk by the Spirit, and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”
the Lord
Matthew 28:20 "Teach them to obey all that I have commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the world." That word is a promise to walk with you in the Holy Spirit.
John 14:16 “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, that he may be with you forever.”
What we can do is to visit the temple frequently and stay at home to pray and wait for the influence of the Holy Spirit.
How can the saints experience God only if they do not have faithful access to the temple? It is difficult to lie in bed and meet God on TV.
No matter how many Christian broadcasts there are or the opportunity to read the Word on the Internet, you should try to attend official worship services and come to the temple frequently to pray and gather.
Hebrews 10:25 “Let us not refrain from meeting together, as is the habit of some, but encourage them, and all the more as we see the day drawing near.”
There is a person who has been a widow who risked her life in the temple and has been praying without leaving the temple for 84 years.
Luke 2:36 “And there was a prophet named Anna, daughter of Vanuel of the tribe of Asher, who was very old. After she left her, she lived with her husband for seven years.
37 She had been a widow for eighty-four years, and she did not leave the temple; she served day and night with fasting and prayer.
38 “At that time he came and gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were hoping for the redemption of Jerusalem.
I hope this year will be filled with time to experience walking with the Lord.
With faith, looking to the Lord, reading the Bible, and enjoying rest in the temple, waiting for the Lord’s accompaniment to open the day, organize and start the day with prayer, so that everyone can see that God is with them. I pray that you will be faithful in your life of walking with the Lord so that you can hear it.
