Title: Warnings About Moab
Contents Bible text: Isaiah 15:1-9 Title: Warning about Moab
Isaiah 15:1-9.
1 A warning concerning Moab, that in one night the eggs of Moab shall be destroyed and desolate
In one night Gir of Moab shall be destroyed and desolate;
They weep for Nebo and Medeba; they each shave their hair.
Each had a beard shaved, and on the three streets he was girdled in sackcloth,
They each mourn and weep bitterly, 4 Heshbon and Elealeh cry out, and their voice is heard even to Jahaz
Therefore the soldiers of Moab cry aloud, and their soul trembles within them. 5 My heart cries out for Moab.
The refugees went as far as Zoar and Eglath Shelishiah.
Weeping, they went up the slope of Ruhit, they cried for destruction on the road of Horonaim, 6 for the waters of Nimrim are dry and the grass withers, and the tender grass withers and there is no green. all around Moab, and a cry of mourning came to Eglaim.
A cry reaches Beer Elim, 9 The waters of Dimon are full of blood.
I will send messengers to those who have fled to Moab and to those who remain in the land.
1. Moab wept bitterly
Moab weeps because their major cities
Because it will be ruined.
The tears of Moab are not tears of repentance, but tears of pain.
Tears of despair from the inevitable ruin and suffering.
2. The Prophet Cries for Moab
God takes no pleasure in the death of sinners in iniquity.
In Ezekiel 18:23
23 How can I take pleasure in the death of the wicked, says the Sovereign LORD?
How can he not rejoice that he turns from his way and lives? 24 If the righteous turn from his justice, and sin, and the wicked do,
If I do all the abominations, will I live?
Not one will be remembered.
He will die for the transgression he has committed and the sins he has committed. 25 But you say, The way of the Lord is not fair.
Hear, O house of Israel, how is my way not fair?
Are not your ways not fair? 26 If the righteous depart from his justice and do iniquity, and die by it,
death for the iniquity that he has committed. 27 If a wicked man turns away from the evil he has done and does justice and justice, he will preserve his soul. 28 For he counts himself and turns away from all the iniquity he has committed.
29 But the house of Israel says, The way of the Lord is not fair.
O house of Israel, how is my way not fair?
Is not your way not fair, saith the Sovereign LORD, O house of Israel, as each one of you has done,
Judgment, turn and repent, and depart from all sins.
Then it will not become a stumbling block to you in iniquity. 31 Put away all the iniquity that you have committed and renew your heart and spirit.
32 Why do you want to die, O house of Israel, says the Sovereign LORD?
I have no pleasure in it; turn yourselves and live.
3. Sending messengers to those who fled and to the remnant
No one can hide from God's calamity.
There is nowhere in this world to hide from God.
There is no safe zone outside of Jesus Christ.
