Title: Watch and Pray-2

Contents

(Mark) “When they came to a place called Gethsemane, Jesus said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” When he took Peter, James, and John with him, he was greatly astonished and grieved, saying, “My heart is so troubled that I may die. Now, stay here and stay awake.” And he went a little farther and fell on his face, asking for as much as possible that this time would pass away from him, saying, “Abba, Father, all things are possible with you; remove this cup from me. But not as I will, but as you will. When he returned, he saw the disciples sleeping, and he said to Peter, "Simon, are you sleeping? Could you not have been awake for one hour? Stay awake and pray that you may not fall into temptation, and pray. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." And when he came again, he saw that they were sleeping, for their eyes were very weary, and they did not know how to answer Jesus.”

1. Why are God's holy people and children?

1) Evidence of a person of faith

“Therefore I make it known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say, Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit” (1 Corinthians 12:3).

- Those who believe and confess Jesus Christ as their Lord (Master) with their hearts are already with the Holy Spirit.

* Without the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ cannot be said to be Lord.

* We have already learned Jesus as the founder of Christianity and one of the world's saints through social history.

* Confession of Jesus Christ as Lord contains a confession of faith in God.

“If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).

* Believing that He is the ruler of the origin of creation, man's sin, God's judgment, and the grace of salvation.

* It is evidence of receiving the authority of children by the presence of the Spirit of God.

“You did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but because you have received the spirit of adoption, we cry, Abba, Father. The Holy Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God” (Romans 8:15).

* All Christians have already become the abode of God's holy Spirit.

“Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you” (1 Corinthians 3:16).

2) The justification of a holy people and children is fulfilled by living in the influence of the Holy Spirit.

There is a difference between knowledge and practice.

“Behold, faith worked with his works, and by works faith was made complete” (James 2:22).

* People complete their faith in that person when all promises are fulfilled through practice.

* The power of language is only when it comes to action.

- The Bible is proven when the records of the Bible become a form of life by God's holy will toward the people.

* The Holy Spirit dwells with power in all saints for the holiness of God.

* The fact that the Word of God is claimed in man is evidence of the living and working of the Holy Spirit.

2. What is the state of spiritual sleep?

1) There are two influences at work in a person.

“I tell you, walk in the Spirit, and you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. For the lust of the flesh is against the Spirit, and the Spirit is against the flesh, for these two oppose each other, so that you cannot do what you want.” (Galatians 5:16-17)

- The two influences try to claim with an antagonistic relationship within the person.

* You can tell what kind of influence a person is under depending on what the fruits of their actions are.

“The works of the flesh are marked: fornication, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, envy, anger, selfishness, separation, heresy, envy, drunkenness, debauchery, and the like. As I warn you, I warn you that those who do these things will not inherit the kingdom of God, but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. There is no law” (Galatians 5:19-23).

* As a Christian, when we bear fruit according to the desires of the flesh, it is evidence that we are intoxicated with spiritual sleep.

* Those who are sensitive to the Spirit will bear fruit according to the Spirit.

* To be awake means to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit like this.

* God's command is to present one's body as an instrument of righteousness.

“Therefore, do not let sin reign over your mortal body, so that you obey its lusts, nor present your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those raised from the dead, and your members Present to God as instruments of righteousness, and sin will not have dominion over you, for you are not under law, but under grace” (Romans 6:11-12).

* The weapons of righteousness are only those who are awake in the Holy Spirit.

“Be sober and awake, for your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour; be strong in your faith and resist him, for you know that your brothers in the world are suffering the same way” (1 Peter 5:8-) 9)

* True children of God are those who are led by the Spirit of God. : Those who achieve the joy of God and forsake the demands of their flesh.

“Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh to live according to the flesh. If you live according to the flesh, you will surely die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. ” (Romans 8:12-14)

* Since God bought you with the price of the blood of Jesus Christ, those who forsake the joy of God according to unbelief or the demands of the flesh must seek the price of the blood.

“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not yours, but you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God with your body” (1 Corinthians 6:19- 20)
