Title: We Turn to the Gentiles/Acts 13
The book of Acts is the act of preaching the gospel from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth. Acts 13 describes the spread of the gospel from Antioch in Syria to Cyprus and Antioch in Asia Minor. This was the beginning of Gentile missionary work in earnest. How was the Gentile mission accomplished?
1 It was because there was a church in Antioch (1-3).
2 Because there were people of the Spirit and the Word, Barnabas and Paul (4-52).
Gentile missionary work began with the partnership of Barnabas and Paul, men of the Holy Spirit and the Word. The two men were sent by the Holy Spirit to go to Asia Minor. He was sensitive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and obeyed that guidance. And the words of the Old Testament were interpreted centered on Jesus Christ and interpreted for the purpose of missionary to the Gentiles. David, prominent in Paul's sermons, foreshadowed the coming Messiah. The Messiah was born through the seed of David, after God's own heart. The Messiah is Jesus Christ, who died on a tree and rose again. Through this Jesus, he preached the gospel of forgiveness of sins, righteousness, and salvation. And they applied Isaiah 49:6 to themselves and made it the basis and direction of Gentile missions (47). Blessed are those who can interpret and practice the Word centered on Jesus and for missionary purposes.
3 Because there were "God-fearing" Gentiles who accepted the Word (42-52).
