Title: Weapons for Victory (1 Samuel 24:1-15)
Contents Today's text shows us David's religious actions in overcoming evil with good. How could I spare the enemy who was looking to kill me, even when the opportunity came, and what was David's weapon that allowed him to win without avenging himself?
1. A clear conscience is a weapon for victory. (Verses 5-7) A conscience that changes according to the attitude of the other person will be impossible even if you try to achieve spiritual victory. Spiritual victory does not require a high degree of skill, only a high degree of cleanliness. David followed only God's will regardless of Saul's life. David recognized Saul as God's anointed, and his conscience was pierced to the point where he cut off his robe.
2. Unadorned humility is the weapon for victory. (Verses 11, 15) David called Saul his father, even though he was an enemy who wanted to kill him. Not only that, but he himself lowered it to the level of a dead dog or flea. True humility is possible when we set ourselves before God. Therefore, God rejects the proud and draws closer to the humble.
3. Patience is the weapon of victory. (Verse 7) If you dealt with things emotionally, you would undoubtedly have killed Saul. But out of anger, he restrained his subordinates in order not to violate God's will. Some of his men encouraged David to do this, arguing for the justification to kill Saul.
4. Entrusting yourself to God is the weapon for victory. (Verses 12, 15) Because Saul was trying to kill David, even if he said that David was killing Saul, who would say that David was not well done? Perhaps they would say that it was just defense. But from a religious point of view, believing in God as a problem solver and entrusting everything to the Lord's will.
David did not judge himself, he said, "You will judge" and "I will not harm you with my hands."
