<Today's Word>
14:01 Then the two apostles from Iconium went into the synagogue of the Jews together, and spoke, and a great multitude of Jews and Greeks believed.
14:02 But the disobedient Jews stirred up the hearts of the Gentiles, and they harbored evil against their brethren.
14:03 The two apostles lived a long time, speaking boldly through the Lord, testifying to the word of his grace by enabling them to perform signs and wonders with their hands.
14:04 The crowds in the city were divided, and some followed the Jews, and some followed the apostles.
14:05 Gentiles and Jews and their rulers insulted the two apostles and rushed to stone them
14:06 When they knew, they fled and went to Lystra and Derbe, the two cities of Lycaonia, and to its vicinity.
14:07 There they preached the gospel
The rumor that even frogs from hibernation are now waking up has passed. It's time to prepare for a new leap, just like all things that have been crouching during the winter are stretching and wriggling. During Lent, when we need to focus more on spiritual awakening and training, we pray that our members will devote themselves to prayer and meditation on the Word to stay awake and not fall into temptation. As we look back on what we were relying on with temperance and fasting, we should look back on what we really need to depend on.
◆ Take care of your priorities.
◆ Do not give up easily and try to stay for a long time.
The challenge in the appearance of the apostles is the expression “stay long”. It's easy to be there long to welcome and applaud. However, it is not easy to say, “Long stay” when there are people who are ill and opposing. It is undoubtedly inconvenient. But the apostles do not move easily. The ability is nothing else, but the ability to do a little more of something uncomfortable and intolerable. You cannot achieve anything meaningful by giving up easily.
◆ Be courageous in the Lord.
It was not because of their strength that the apostles were able to stay in uncomfortable places for a long time. The apostles were able to rely on the Lord. With the help of the Lord, they were not afraid of people and were able to speak the word of grace boldly. Even though people insulted them and rushed to stone them, they could not break the passion and devotion of evangelism in the hearts of the apostles. The environment was no longer an issue for the apostles. The world isn't fussy. There is no such thing as a better opponent. However, those who have the strength of the Lord have the power to overcome the world.
