Title: What God Hates / Proverbs 6:16-19
God hates sin. So he hates all sins. However, he said that there are six kinds of sins that God especially hates.
The text explains it, but to summarize the content of the text in one word, it says that God especially hates sin that harms neighbors.
He is a God who hates all sins that destroy the public order of society and disturb the peace of society.
Verse 16: “There are six things the LORD hates, that is, there are six things that he hates in his heart…”
What are those seven things?
##### 1. The eyes are proud.
Verse 17 first...<that is, proud eyes and...>
Here, arrogant eyes refer to eyes that are arrogant, boastful, and despise others.
Among the several sins that God hates, the first is the sin of pride.
Pride is an essential element of sin. In other words, pride is the main cause of all sins.
And if that pride prevails, eventually, it will come to a point where they say they do not know God and despise God.
Proverbs 30:9...< Or maybe I am full and do not know God, lest I be the LORD, lest I am poor and steal, and profane the name of my God.
Proverbs 21:4...<The lofty eyes and the proud heart and the prosperity of the wicked are all sin.>
Also, in Malachi 3:15, evil people say to one another, “Now we say that the proud are blessed, and those who do evil are prospered, and those who tempt God are freed from harm.”
But Psalm 101:5... "I will destroy whoever destroys his neighbour, I will not tolerate him with high eyes and a proud heart."
That's not all.
Proverbs 15:25...<The LORD destroys the house of the proud, and sets the boundaries of the widow.>
James 4:6...<But he gives greater grace, therefore it is said, God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.>
1 Peter 5:5...<Young people, in the same way submit to your elders, and all of you gird yourselves with humility toward one another, for God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.>
##### 2. False Tongue
God hates lies.
Psalm 5:6...< Those who lie will be destroyed. The LORD delights in the shedding of blood and detests the deceitful.
Revelation 21:8...<But the fearful and the unbeliever and the abominable and the murderers and the fornicators and the sorcerers and the idolaters and all the liars shall have their part in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone. death.>
Proverbs 18:21...<Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.>
We must watch our lips. It is a serious thought and should be taken into account. Because our lips become our character.
In other words, he said he would pay off a thousand nyang debt. It is said that a horse without feet travels a thousand miles. It is said that birds hear the words of the day and mice hear the words of the night.
Therefore, as the psalmist's confession, we believers should pray to raise up a watchman on our lips.
Psalm 141:3...< O LORD, set a watch before my mouth, and shut the door of my lips
Keep it.>
##### 3. Hands that shed innocent blood
The 6th commandment among the ten commandments...<Thou shalt not kill> and related explanations
##### 4. A heart that devises evil schemes
Literary meaning...< Thoughts of Sin >
The same word is translated in Isaiah 59:7 as a thought of sin.
Isaiah 59:7...< Her feet are swift to do evil, swift to shedding innocent blood, and her thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; desolation and ruin have been brought in her way...>
Isaiah 18:4...<The LORD said to me, "I watch quietly from my dwelling place, like sunlight, like a mist in the heat of autumn."
Psalm 139:1-10...< O LORD, you searched for me and knew me. You know when I sit down and when I stand up; You satisfy my thoughts from afar; You see my way and my lying down; You are well acquainted with all my actions. You have laid your hands on me before and after me. This knowledge is too marvelous for me; it is too high for me to reach. Where shall I go from thy spirit, and where shall I flee before thy presence? If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I make my bed in hell, you are there. Even if I spread the wings of the dawn and dwell at the edge of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, and your right hand will uphold me.”
##### 5. Feet that run quickly to evil (verse 18)
##### 6. The lying false witness (verse 19)
In Exodus 20:16, while explaining the Ten Commandments, the ninth commandment says, “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.”
--- To be a false witness...worse than to commit a sin.
##### 7. One who quarrels between brothers (verse 19 below)
---The cause of separation between brothers?
1) Because of envy and jealousy.
2) Because of hate.
3) It is a work of slavery to Satan and the devil.
let me turn And I pray in the name of the Lord that you will have a beautiful life walking on the good path that is pleasing to God. - Amen -
